- First confirmed in September, the movie gains momentum with multiple people onboard.
- The film aims to expand the franchise for both longtime fans and new audiences.
The Call of Duty film has new big names on board. Paramount Pictures and Activision have officially confirmed that the live-action movie adaptation of the Call of Duty franchise is moving forward with Peter Berg and Taylor Sheridan leading the charge as the Writer-Director duo.
It’s been years since talks first surfaced about a Call of Duty movie, and after much speculation, things were officially confirmed back in September. The movie will be developed and produced by Paramount in partnership with Activision, marking a major move to bring one of gaming’s biggest franchises to the big screen.
The duo previously collaborated on hits like Hell or High Water and Wind River
Peter Berg, known for The Mosquito Bowl, Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, and Patriots Day, will write, direct, and produce the film alongside his Film 47 team. Taylor Sheridan, the creative mind behind Yellowstone, 1923, and Sicario, will also write and produce, with David Glasser also joining the project as a Producer.

Berg and Sheridan have a long history of collaboration, having worked together on Wind River and Hell or High Water, a film that earned four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Screenplay. The duo is expected to bring that gritty drama into the upcoming movie as well.
Since its first announcement last month, there have been various reports on the movie team. There were also discussions surrounding Steven Spielberg, a long-time fan of the franchise himself, wanting to direct the movie, but that didn’t go anywhere.

The Call of Duty franchise remains one of the best-selling video game series of all time, with more than 500 million copies sold globally. It has shaped gaming culture for two decades, and over the years, we all wished to see a movie of the franchise, and it is finally taking shape.
