- In Catan, you explore vast landscapes, form alliances, and compete for scarce resources while robbers roam the island.
- It will be produced by Asmodee, Catan Studio, Klaus Teuber’s sons, and Vertigo Entertainment.
- This joins Netflix’s growing game-to-screen universe alongside Arcane, Castlevania, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed series, and more.
Netflix has officially revealed that the iconic strategic board game Catan is getting its first-ever TV screen adaptation in partnership with Asmodee, the company behind hits like Ticket to Ride and 7 Wonders. Fans can now look forward to scripted and unscripted projects based on it.
Netflix is working on film, series, and unscripted projects based on Catan
What came as a surprise, Netflix is now bringing Catan to the TV screen for the very first time. They’re now developing both scripted and unscripted projects, and you can now wait for the game’s rich landscapes, shifting alliances, and unpredictable elements to come to life in a whole different way.
Hold on to your sheep. The world of CATAN, based on Klaus Teuber's beloved board game, is coming to Netflix.

For new-gen fans, Catan was created in 1995 by Klaus Teuber as The Settlers of Catan and has connected players for decades via clever strategy and fun gameplay. And to me, turning that mix of tension and fun into the screen is no small task, but it does look promising.
An incredible team is working behind the scenes to bring Catan to life
This adaptation will be produced by Darren Kyman from Asmodee, Pete Fenlo from Catan Studio, and Klaus Teuber’s sons, Guido and Benjamin Teuber, along with Roy Lee from Vertigo Entertainment. With both sons working and the overall combined experience does look like the source will be respected.
Thomas Koegler, the CEO of Asmodee, also said, “I’m thrilled to see the game expanding to a larger audience who will discover the richness of its universe.” Oh, and this adds to Netflix’s growing roster of game-to-screen adaptations, like Arcane, Castlevania, and the upcoming Assassin’s Creed series.
I want to see how Catan, which has already made its mark on tabletops, PC, and mobile, will transform into a solid movie-like experience for viewers. Plus, with Netflix going all-in on adaptations like Supercell’s Clash Universe, this feels like a great time to bring the global phenomenon to screen.
