Brings three new teams and a standalone tournament for women

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by international game developer and publisher MOONTON Games and the Esports Federation Cambodia (EFC) to host Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2023 to jointly support the development of the local esports industry and improve the competitive gaming environment in the nation.

Held at the Preah Vihear Hall for the Ministry of Information, the signing intends to create the foundation for a long-term and successful collaboration between MOONTON Games and the EFC in hosting Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports tournaments in the country.

It includes the medal event in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in May and the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2023 to begin in June 2023. The agreement was drafted by His Excellency (H. E.) Chea Chanboribo, President of the EFC and Head of MOONTON Games’ Esports Ecosystem, and Ray Ng.

“The success of MPL Cambodia has helped to strengthen the development of the esports ecosystem in Cambodia. We are looking to take it one step further by bringing MSC 2023 to create more opportunities for local talents here,” stated Ray. He added, “We are excited to showcase the potential of Cambodian players to a global arena. We want to bring in global players to #SEATheWorld.”

“I am pleased that the Esports Federation Cambodia and MOONTON Games jointly organized the signing ceremony of the MoU to establish a new partnership in organizing the MSC 2023 for the first time in Phnom Penh. The signing is part of a joint effort to develop the local esports industry and create more events in the country for athletes. The opportunity to host this major international event is a testament to the development of the Kingdom of Cambodia in general and in the field of esports. Thank you to MOONTON Games for co-organizing the event in Cambodia.”

Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2023 brings three new teams and a standalone tournament for women

With the addition of new teams from outside Southeast Asia this year—namely, North America, the MENA (Middle East and North Africa), and Turkey—MSC is poised to create history. In line with the vision, “Esports for Everyone,” MSC 2023 aims to boost competitor diversity by inviting non-SEA teams to compete in one of the biggest MOBA tournaments in the world.

The medal-event Mobile Legends: Bang Bang will feature a standalone competition for women for the first time. It will be held in Cambodia in conjunction with the 32nd SEA Games. The MLBB competitions will start on May 10 and run through May 15, 2023. Since the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has been a medal event. The first and second versions took place, respectively, in the Philippines and Vietnam.

If you do not know already, MSC 2022 was hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and RSG PH was the champion. It will be interesting to see which team takes the crown this year.
