Philippines is crowned as the champion of the IESF World Esports Championship 2023 (IESF WEC): MLBB

A sum of $50,000 was awarded to the champion team

The Philippines is one of the strongest regions in the Mobile Legends Bang Bang esports. Proving their might once again, the team Philippines became the champion of the MLBB event in the 15th IESF World Esports Championship 2023 (IESF WEC). In the grand finals against powerhouse Indonesia, the champion picked up a 3-1 win to lift the trophy. Besides winning the event, the team was also awarded $50,000 for coming up as the champion.

2023 IESF World Esports Championship MLBB: The champion team’s journey to the top

Before the playoffs stage, a total of sixteen teams joined the esports event. Divided into four groups of four teams each, the participants fight through the group stage. The top 2 from each group advanced to the playoffs where they play in the Upper Bracket Quarterfinals. The winners of this stage went to the semifinals while losers were demoted to the lower bracket.

As the event progressed, the champion team fought Saudi Arabia in the upper bracket final. With a 2-0 win, they moved to the finals and Saudi went to the lower bracket final. Facing another heartbreaking defeat, Saudi Arabia had to stop at the third position while Indonesia went to the finals to face the champion, the Philippines.

The finals started with a victory for Indonesia in the first round. However, the team failed to stop the giants from the Philippines as the team lost the next three rounds consecutively. A scoreline of 3-1 has decided the champion of the MLBB event in the 2023 IESF World Esports Championship.

The Philippines got the largest share of the event’s prize pool

A total of $100,000 was featured as the total prize pool for the MLBB event. The Philippines won the largest share of it as being the champion. The team pocketed $50,000 while the runner-up and the third-placed team took $30,000 and $20,000.

The 15th edition of the IESF World Esports Championships is currently taking place in Iași, Romania. The event features six game titles and a total prize pool of $500,000 for the participants. Among the featured titles, there are two mobile titles (PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends Bang Bang). Starting on the 25th of August 2023, the event concluded today, the 3rd of September.
