Tencent has suddenly released a piece of big news by the announcement of Bangladesh Championship AOV 2021, the huge prize money tournament for their famous MOBA, Arena of Valor in Bangladesh. There was a big fuss around the mobile gaming community in the country around the speculation of a big-money competition. At least, rumors came true today after such a big announcement. In this Arena of Valor article, we will look at the construction of the announcement made by Tencent, reasons to discuss the format, schedule for the upcoming esports tournament in Bangladesh, with the biggest prize pool.
Bangladesh Championship AOV 2021
MOBA genre has been very famous recently, in the southern part of Asia, particularly in Bangladesh. Though the game title of Arena of Valor has been in the country for a long time, due to the low MOBA fame which the game was not in a stable condition. Since October 2021, after getting the Bangladesh server (Asia Region) added to the game, the game is getting a lot of attention.
The number of players has increased and the players have been showing decent interest in this famous title. Though the game is really famous in some of the other regions, in Bangladesh, it recently caught the spotlight through the server introduction, street rankings, and some small community tournaments.
The country has its own Tencent Head Of Business Development, who has been working with some great helping hands from the company, to establish a massive platform for the game. The Esports scene in Bangladesh is really on the rise, so there couldn’t be a better time for an official tournament. Tencent Games have just grabbed that chance today, by funding a huge sum of the prize pool, they have provided the community a whole new level of enthusiasm and a reason to get professional in MOBA Esports.
Tournament Format and Stages
The biggest Esports event of BD will be a mix-up of online and LAN tournaments. In mobile MOBA the country is really not that much familiar with LAN so it will be a worthy experience for them to gain.
This tournament will be completed in three stages.
Stage No 1: City Qualifier to City Final
- Three championships will be held in three cities in three phases. The cities are Dhaka, Khulna and Chittagong.
- The online “Dhaka/Khulna/Chittagong City Qualifier” will be organized initially with 24/32/64 teams registered for respective cities. The “Dhaka City Final” will be held offline / LAN at a specific spot in Dhaka with the best 6 teams. Similar things will take place in the Khulna final in Khulna and Chittagong final in their own city.
- The top two teams of the cities of Dhaka, Khulna and Chittagong finals will get a chance to participate in the Grand Final directly. The cost of the meals for the participating teams in the each city finals will be given by the tournament organizing committee.
- A total of 6 teams will get a chance to participate in the grand final, 2 from each city final of 3 cities.
Important Rules
- A team/individual can only register for one city qualifier.
- If most of the players on that team live in the main city, then any player from that team can play for the team. This could be even, if he is from another district. However, if he gets a chance in the city final, he must play in the city final from a certain spot in the city.
Stage No 2: Wild Card Entry
With the exception of the 6 teams selected through the 3 City Final, any team from any district (even those who have previously been eliminated from the City Qualifier/ City Final) will have the opportunity to participate in the Wild Card Round. An online “Online Qualifier” will be organized with the registered 24/32/64/126 teams. Out of which the best two teams, will get a chance to participate in the Grand finals directly.
Stage No 3: Grand Finals
- The grand final will be held in Dhaka with 6 teams selected from 3 city finals. The other 2 teams will be selected from online qualifiers.
- The LAN event will be held at a specific spot in the city of Dhaka. Each team has to participate in the game from the spot in Dhaka.
- The cost of accommodation for the players who have a chance in the grand final will be provided by the tournament organizing committee.
Final Thoughts
From the 16th December 2021, The Victory Day of the country, the tournament will start its registrations. It can be said that the event will run for a long time, judging the format. This tournament will be a massive game-changer for Bangladesh Esports, as the prize money is huge. The arrangements made will really be nothing like ever before. Therefore, more professional teams, sponsors, and mobile games should be on the way for Bangladesh as the future of Esports does start to shine brighter from here on.
