Black Beacon is a mythology sci-fi action RPG from Glohow Holdings Pte. Ltd. and Mingzhou Network Technology. It features a dark and dystopian world on the brink of chaos. In this Black Beacon Beginners guide, you’ll learn the basics of the game’s overall mechanics and system, while we also share some tips on how to navigate the game as a new player.
If you are starting, you should know some of the useful redeem codes to claim and acquire some useful freebies and starter rewards.
Gameplay and Combat Mechanics
Combat in Black Beacon goes deeper than just mashing the Attack button, it’s all about strategy, timing, and smart team-building. Every character has a set of skills: Basic Attack, two active Skills, an Ultimate, a Passive, and a Combo Skill. These abilities interact in specific ways, and their effectiveness depends on how you chain them together, the order you use them in, and who you team them up with.
Vigor is the core resource that fuels skill usage. Basic Attacks charge the First Skill, the First Skill charges the Second, and both the Second Skill and Basic Attacks contribute to charging the Ultimate. After using the Ultimate, the cycle restarts.

Some upgrades can speed this process up or even let you skip parts of it entirely, which makes it crucial to know not just who to upgrade, but which skills deserve priority. As you fight, all actions also fill a Combo Burst meter. When it’s full, your character enters Burst Mode, allowing them to use their First and Second Skills without needing to build Vigor.
This is especially powerful for high DPS characters, letting them deal massive damage with little delay. You can switch between characters mid-battle. Doing so near enemies triggers an Entrance Attack and gives the new character a slight boost to their Vigor gain. Smart switching keeps your damage flow steady and your skills charging efficiently.
Dodging plays a big role, too. It’s not just for avoiding hits—you can dodge in any direction, even to reposition. A well-timed Perfect Dodge gives you a brief window of invulnerability, letting you dive into enemies and unload skills while they’re grouped up.

A quick thing about controls: when you start, you’ll pick between top-down view and free mode. I’d recommend starting with top-down because it’s easier to manage the camera. But eventually, free mode is going to be important for exploration. Trust me, some areas and clues require camera movement, so get comfortable switching between the two. And if the default controls feel weird, try rebinding your basic attack.
Character Roles and Abilities
Characters fall into three main classes:
- Destruction (your main DPS)
- Assist (Utility class that provides damage or survival buffs to the team)
- Breaker (A support class skilled in assisting teammates in attacks)
Early on, focus on one strong DPS and build a team around them. The game does force you to use certain characters in story missions sometimes, but you don’t need to max out everyone—just keep a few leveled enough to handle those sections.
Additionally, each Character is also assigned an Element:

- Light: Deals Light elemental damage with each attack, applying Light elemental anomalies to the enemy. Once the anomaly reaches its cap, the enemy takes additional damage and enters a Glare state. At the end of the duration, the enemy takes massive damage again (if the enemy’s remaining HP is lower than this damage, the effect triggers immediately).
- Water: Deals Water elemental damage with each attack, applying Water elemental anomalies to the enemy. Once the anomaly reaches its cap, the enemy takes additional damage and enters a Stasis state, briefly freezing them.
- Fire: Deals Fire elemental damage with each attack, applying Fire elemental anomalies to the enemy. Once the anomaly reaches its cap, the enemy takes additional damage and enters a Burn state, taking fixed damage over time.
- Thunder: Deals Thunder elemental damage with each attack, applying Thunder elemental anomalies to the enemy. Once the anomaly reaches its cap, the enemy takes additional damage and enters a Thunderclap state, suffering extra thunder strikes whenever hit.
- Dark: Deals Dark elemental damage with each attack, applying Dark elemental anomalies to the enemy. Once the anomaly reaches its cap, the enemy takes additional damage and enters a Dark Corrosion state. At the end of the duration, the enemy takes damage based on the total damage received while in the state (if the enemy’s remaining HP is lower than this damage, the effect triggers immediately).
The game provides you with three starter characters: Zero, Shamash, and Ninsar. Shamash is a decent starter DPS if you invest in him, and Zero and Ninsar are solid supports. As a Black Beacon Beginners Guide, we suggest leveling the free trio; they hold up well early on, which is rare in gacha games where starter units are usually benchwarmers by the second chapter.
The Gacha System (Retrieval Pool)
This game’s gacha (known as Retrieval Pool) is fair. The limited character banner gives you a 70% chance to get the featured 5-Star, which is already better than most games where you’re stuck with a 50/50 gamble. Pity carries over between banners, and the hard pity is 70 pulls.

Now, the weapon banner is where things get interesting. If you pull a 5-Star, it’s 100% guaranteed to be the featured weapon. And the pity is only 50 pulls, which is downright generous compared to most games.

But here’s the real kicker—after 30 pulls on the standard banner (Mortal Wanderings), you get a Free 5-Star selector. That’s right, you can just pick any one of the standard 5-Stars. You can choose from Arishan, Logos, Viola, Nana, or Licha. After the First 300 pulls, there’s another guaranteed 5-star from the same selection.
List of Game Modes
After pushing through Chapters 3-19, the game opens up with three major systems that’ll become crucial for your progression. Here’s what you need to know:
Tome of Fate
This roguelike mode throws random battles at you with unpredictable buffs and debuffs. Whether you play Story or Adventure mode, you’ll earn Ancient Marks – powerful equippable items that provide stat boosts and unique effects.
These aren’t just simple +ATK trinkets; some grant stacking attack buffs per basic hit or crit damage multipliers. You can get them as:
- Clear rewards from Tome of Fate
- Level-up bonuses
- Purchases using Seals of Fate (earned by completing missions or dismantling unwanted Marks)
Babel Tower

This base-building mode lets you dispatch characters on timed missions to gather construction materials. As you upgrade facilities in the Tower, you’ll unlock passive benefits like free Orelium and other resources. Think of it as your AFK farm – set it up right, and it keeps paying out.
Infinite Multiverse Mode
Unlocked after Chapter 4-19, this survival mode pits your team against endless enemy waves. It’s split into two phases:
- Preparation Area: Clear the initial stages to qualify.
- Battle Zone: The real challenge is where you fight consecutive battles to earn Stars.
More Stars = more Rune Shards, with rewards resetting every two weeks. This makes it the best renewable source for gacha currency in the late game.
Pro tip: Build a sustainable team (tank + healer + DPS) rather than pure glass cannons – survival matters more than speed here.
Black Beacon Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks
1. Raise your Seer Level to unlock features
Your Seer Level is the key to unlocking everything. The higher it is, the more features, stronger characters, and better rewards you’ll get. The fastest ways to level up are:

- Main Story Quests – These give you Rune Shards (the premium currency for pulling characters), Seer XP, and materials for upgrades. Push through as much as you can early on.
- Resource Stages – When the story gets too tough, these let you farm character XP, weapon materials, and Aurelium (used for upgrades).
- Daily and Weekly Quests – These are effortless XP. No stamina needed—just complete the tasks and claim the rewards.
- Events – Always check limited-time events like Wall Shadow Sightings, which shower you with XP, free pulls, and even a free costume for Florence.
2. Manage your Stamina and Resource Management
Stamina is limited, so don’t waste it on random characters just because they look cool. For stamina spending, prioritize upgrading characters and their skills before dumping everything into gear. The story will occasionally lock you into using specific characters, so don’t go all-in on one team right away.
- Focus on a core team of 4-5 characters (2 DPS, 1 support, 1 healer/utility).
- Upgrade weapons and skills—these make a massive difference in power.
3. Farm up Pulls with the Vision Expansion
This is the most important early-game event. Every 5 levels, you get 5 free pulls. After Level 15, every 10 levels you raise will reward you with 10 pulls. That’s 50 free pulls total.

Add in the 1,500 Rune Shards (another 10 pulls) and 9 Stamina Fruits, and you’re looking at almost a full pity on the standard banner just for leveling up.
4. Complete Vulcan’s Grace for a free 5-Star Weapon
Additionally, you can complete the Vulcan’s Grace event (5 tasks) for a free 5-Star weapon of your choice. Tasks include:

- Hit Seer Level 30
- Pull 30 times
- Clear Main Story 4-19
- Score 3,000 in Brute Force
- 3-Star Infinite Multiverse
- Upgrade Babel Tower to Lv. 4
5. The Time-Seeking Shop (Dupes Without Pulling)

For 240 Imprints of Seeking Time (earned from pulls), you can buy dupes of characters you own. This is huge for F2P players who want to max out their favorites without gambling.
6. Re-rolling is not Worth it
Black Beacon offers not one, but two guaranteed 5-star character acquisition systems that are incredibly player-friendly. The first guarantee comes quickly – after just 30 pulls on the standard banner, you’re rewarded with a selector that lets you immediately choose any one of these top-tier characters: Arashan, Logos, Viola, Nana, or Licha.
What makes this system truly exceptional is the second guarantee of 300 total pulls. This dual-guarantee system is a massive time saver and prevents you from doing the arduous battle of re-rolling for the best starter.
