Chaos Zero Nightmare Memory Fragments Guide and how to get them

If you’ve hit Captain Level 25 in Chaos Zero Nightmare, you’ve probably unlocked one of the most important systems in the game, Memory Fragments. Think of them as the secret sauce that transforms a strong agent into a powerhouse. Because these fragments define your late-game build potential.

They don’t just give you bigger numbers; they let you craft playstyles, optimize builds, and break through some of the hardest content in the game. And in this Chaos Zero Nightmare guide, we’ll walk through everything you need to know about Memory Fragments. Also, take a look at our Redeem Codes, Beginner’s Guide, Tier List, and Reroll Guide for a great start. And don’t forget to check our Customer Support article whenever you run into problems.

What are Memory Fragments

Memory Fragments are set-based equipment pieces exclusive to your Combatants. They provide stat boosts and special effects when equipped in sets of 2 or 4. Each set focuses on a specific battle style, from heavy crit damage builds to healing or defense-oriented bonuses.

You can think of Memory Fragments as the next layer of character progression after traditional gear. Each Combatant can equip up to six Memory Fragments, one for each slot:

  • Shock
  • Suppression
  • Denial
  • Ideal
  • Desire
  • Imagination

Each slot has a main stat and several substats, and while the main stat is guaranteed, substats are randomly rolled, meaning no two Fragments are ever truly identical. This randomness makes farming and upgrading fragments an essential part of your long-term grind.

How to unlock Memory Fragments

To start your Memory Fragment journey, you’ll need to reach Captain Level 25. Once you hit this milestone, the Simulation: Memory Fragments mode becomes available under the Simulation menu. This new stage type allows you to farm fragment sets directly.

And each simulation area focuses on specific sets, so you can target farming the ones that best suit your team composition. Each stage costs 60 Aether per run, and as the difficulty increases, so does the chance of obtaining higher rarity fragments.

The difficulty levels range from 1 to 10, with higher levels unlocking better drops and even Particles of Memory, an advanced upgrade material used later for crafting. Also, the Crafting system unlocks at Captain Level 40, so by the time you hit Level 40, you’ll be able to both farm and craft the fragments you need, giving you full control over your builds.

How to upgrade Memory Fragments

Upgrading is the key to unleashing the full power of your Memory Fragments. And each piece can be enhanced to increase both its main and substats, allowing your characters to perform at their absolute best. The process might seem simple at first, but it carries significant strategic depth that can make or break your endgame build.

Each upgrade consumes Particles of Memory along with other exclusive materials, making resource management essential. Every time you upgrade, the main stat of the fragment increases, providing a steady boost to core attributes like Attack, Defense, or HP. However, the true magic happens once you begin unlocking substats, smaller secondary bonuses that can range from critical chance and damage over time to ego recovery and defense percentages.

After unlocking all substats, future upgrades will randomly boost one of them. This adds a layer of excitement and unpredictability to the process. So every enhancement feels like a gamble, cause you might roll the perfect critical damage substat for your DPS unit, or you might end up with something more defensive on a piece you wanted purely for offense.

How to get Memory Fragments in Chaos Zero Nightmare

There are several methods to collect and strengthen your Memory Fragments. Here’s how to get started:

1. Clear Simulation: Memory Fragments

The Simulation: Memory Fragments mode is the primary and most reliable way to farm Memory Fragments in Chaos Zero Nightmare. Each simulation stage drops specific set pieces tied to its theme, so knowing which stage to target is essential for efficient farming.

The difficulty you select directly impacts both the drop rate and the rarity of the fragments you receive. The higher levels yield better rewards, including rare and legendary-grade fragments. However, each run consumes 60 Aether, meaning you’ll need to manage your stamina carefully.

It’s best to plan farming sessions around your recovery time or use energy-restoring items during events or double-drop periods. By consistently clearing these simulations, you’ll gradually build a strong foundation of set pieces for all your main combatants..

2. Craft using Particles of Memory

After reaching Captain Level 40, players unlock the ability to craft Memory Fragments directly. This feature is perfect for those seeking specific gear pieces without relying entirely on drops. Crafting lets you select the part you want by spending 100 Particles of Memory, while opting for a random part costs only 50.

The system becomes even more powerful when working with the Imagination, Desire, and Ideal slots, and for these, you can choose the main stat during crafting by using Multidimensional Alignment Materials. This level of control allows you to fine-tune your character builds and minimize wasted effort.

3. Dismantle Old or Unused Fragments

As your inventory fills up with duplicate or low-tier Memory Fragments, dismantling becomes an invaluable tool for resource management. Breaking down unwanted pieces grants upgrade materials, which can be used to strengthen your existing gear. By maintaining this cycle, you’ll always have a steady flow of materials and ensure your team’s equipment stays up-to-date with the game’s increasing difficulty curve.
