Cookie Run: Kingdom: The Complete Skill Cooldown Guide and Tips

Know the specific skill cooldown of every cookie and plan your moves accordingly!

Cookie Run: Kingdom– Kingdom Builder & Battle RPG game is a new addition to the famous Cookie Run RPG game series. This game is about building a dream Cookie Kingdom while fighting against evil desert monsters. This guide will help you find out how the starting skill cooldown works in the Cookie Run Kingdom.

In the arena, it’s advisable to have one cookie start their cooldown at 3 seconds so the team’s skills can flow more smoothly. This is because having two cookies start with a 4-second mark doesn’t mean their skills would start at the same time; the AI would choose one of them and the other cookie would have to wait, in effect making the latter start at 5 seconds.

Note that the Squishy Jelly Watch treasure does not affect starting skill cooldown, so the % CD buffs listed here can ONLY be received from toppings. A full Swift Chocolate Set (5 pieces) would give an extra 5% CD buff.

Cookies with 13-second cooldowns (first skill starts at 4 sec)

  • Tiger Lily Cookie
  • Madeleine Cookie
  • Pastry Cookie
  • Lilac Cookie
  • Sparkling Cookie
  • Dark Choco Cookie
  • Vampire Cookie
  • To get them to 3 seconds skill start: 10.3% CD

Tiger Lily is used as a support for your team, due to her stuns. Full Swift Chocolate would be good for her, but if you’re using her for the arena, adding some Whole Almonds would work too.

Madeleine, Pastry, Lilac, and Sparkling Cookie are mostly used for Speed Comps in the arena, so it’s up to you to figure out which cookie you’d want to go first. You wouldn’t want all of them to start at the same time. It would probably be Lilac or Sparkling since they function as the support for this team.

Dark Choco Cookie having a faster skill cooldown is good for bosses and the Guild Dragon, so he can decrease their DEF more frequently. Make sure he always goes first before Vampire Cookie.

Cookies with 14-second cooldowns (first skill starts at 4 sec)

  • Kumiho Cookie
  • Raspberry Cookie
  • Licorice Cookie
  • Black Raisin Cookie
  • To get them to 3 seconds skill start: 16.7% CD

Kumiho is mostly used for Kumiscam Comp, so it’s necessary that she starts at 3 seconds for the comp to work. Since she would be the “tank” for this team, make sure she gets a lot of DMG Resist substats.

Raspberry Cookie isn’t commonly found in the arena due to her being the least useful of the single-target DPS cookies. However, if you can build her and make her ATK stat really high, she can kill one enemy cookie early, which is usually Sea Fairy or Frost Queen, taking away the enemy team’s main DPS early in the game. For this to work, you would need at least 3 Swift Chocolate toppings and Searing Raspberry for the remaining topping slot/s.

Liquorice is a utility cookie used for his summoned creatures, which help defend your team in PVE. He’s also a common pick for Guild Battle, and the Guild Battle strategy requires him to have a 3-sec start.

Black Raisin is one of the few multi-target DPS cookies that can start in 3 seconds, (the other cookies need higher CD, so using them would sacrifice a lot of ATK) so the 3-sec start can be useful for the arena, where other teams would be just starting to use their support cookies, and their tanks can’t use their skill to defend their team yet.

Cookies with 15-second cooldowns (first skill starts at 4 sec)

  • Almond Cookie
  • Cocoa Cookie
  • Strawberry Crepe Cookie
  • Latte Cookie
  • Mala Sauce Cookie
  • To get them to 3 seconds skill start: 22.3% CD

3-second start Almond is absolutely necessary for certain Arena comps. It’s also necessary to have 22.3% CD for Cocoa Cookie, who needs to use her stun-immunity skill before the enemy Sea Fairy or Cotton can use their stuns.

Strawberry Crepe is highly recommended to have a 3-second cooldown, because her skill applies extra DMG Resist to her two weakest allies right before the enemy team can use their main DPS cookies.

A faster cooldown on Latte would make her more of a utility cookie, where she can apply her Silence debuffs more often. Mala Sauce with Swift Chocolate toppings can help her deal more damage with Twizzle Gummy Cookie.

Cookies with 16-second cooldowns (first skill starts at 5 sec)

  • Squid Ink Cookie
  • Eclair Cookie
  • Mint Choco Cookie
  • Cream Puff Cookie
  • Twizzly Gummy Cookie
  • To get them to 4 seconds skill start: 6.3% CD
  • To get them to 3 seconds skill start: 27.1% CD

Getting these cookies to a 4-sec start is easily achievable through Topping substats. Squid and Eclair usually use Searing Raspberries, Mint Choco uses Whole Almonds, and Cream Puff and Twizzly Gummy Cookie use Juicy Apple Jelly toppings since their skills are reliant on crit.

The only cookie where it might be worth doing a 3-second start on is Eclair Cookie if you want to use him on an arena team with a 4-sec Sea Fairy. He’s one of the newest cookies to the game, so players are still trying to figure out what topping build works best for him.

Cookies with 17-second cooldowns (first skill starts at 5 sec)

  • Sea Fairy Cookie
  • Sorbet Shark Cookie
  • Parfait Cookie
  • Cotton Cookie
  • Herb Cookie
  • Pomegranate Cookie
  • To get them to 4 seconds skill start: 11.8% CD

If you’re using Sea Fairy for the arena, then having her start at 4 seconds is really important. Everyone in Masters runs a 4-sec Sea Fairy, so if you reach the higher ranks and yours is still at 5 seconds, then you would be in a lot of trouble. Try to mix in Searing Raspberries so she can deal devastating amounts of damage.

The same applies for Sorbet Shark, but only if you don’t have Sea Fairy; She’s the priority. The remaining cookies are for supporting your main attackers, so it’s good to give them Swift Chocolates so they can use their skills more often. Right now, there’s no way of making these cookies start at 3 seconds.

Cookies with 18-second cooldowns (first skill starts at 5 sec)

  • Frost Queen Cookie
  • Tea Knight Cookie
  • To get them to 4 seconds skill start: 16.7% CD

Frost Queen is usually used for dealing damage, and Tea Knight is used for his buffs and Wrath Of The Commander effect; however, if you want to use these cookies more for utility then that’s fine too! Frost Queen with a faster cooldown would freeze enemies more often, and Tea Knight’s buffs can be applied more frequently.

You don’t need 5 Swift Chocolates for these cookies, so you can mix in Searing Raspberries for Frost, and Whole Almonds for Tea Knight.

Cookies with 19-second cooldown (first skill starts at 6 sec)

  • Pure Vanilla Cookie
  • To get him to 5 seconds skill start: 3.6% CD
  • To get him to 4 seconds skill start: 21.1% CD

Pure Vanilla has an extremely long cooldown for a healer, so it’s more advisable to use a full Swift Chocolate set on him, especially for PvE. If you plan on using him for the arena, you might have to mix in a few Whole Almonds toppings on him so he would have more survivability; in this case, you would have to settle for a 4-sec start.

Cookies with 20-second BASE cooldown (first skill starts at 6 sec)

  • Snow Sugar Cookie
  • Red Velvet Cookie
  • To get them to 5 seconds skill start: 8.4% CD
  • To get them to 4 seconds skill start: 25% CD
Cookies with 20 second BASE cooldown

Snow Sugar will mostly be used for Summoner Comp, and Red Velvet isn’t as used in high-level arena, but he’s decent in PVE stages that have rear enemies that you need to kill quickly. A 4-sec start isn’t as advisable since these cookies focus on attack, so you would miss out on a lot of damage if you just equip full Swift Chocolate on them. However, for the 5-sec start, you can get the 8.4% CD from topping substats alone (preferably from Searing Raspberries) so it would be a more feasible option.

The cookies listed above are the ones that are suggested to have a faster cooldown. If you want to know the starting cooldown for another cookie that’s not in the list, the formula would be:

([Base Cooldown] * 0.3) * (100 – [Topping Stats CD]) = rounded to the nearest whole number

Additionally, if you just want to figure out their normal cooldown (the one used at their second skill and so on), then this is the formula you would use:

[Base Cooldown] * (100 – [Topping Stats CD]) * (100 – [Watch CD])

Only the first skill cooldown uses a whole number.

Other miscellaneous tips

It’s worth noting that not all cookies need a faster skill start or a faster cooldown in general. Some cookies would benefit a lot more from Searing Raspberries or Whole Almonds instead. Pumpkin Pie Cookie will always have a 1-second skill start, and there’s no way for you to make her use her skill immediately.

Similarly, Gingerbrave Cookie will always have a 2-second skill start, so if you’re running a Kumiscam comp (the only use you will have for him as a mid to late-game player) then it’s advisable to use a full Whole Almonds set on him so he’ll live longer on your team.
