The Epic packs in eFootball 2026 just keep coming, and this time, KONAMI has dropped the National Guardians pack. I see they are dishing out frequent defensive packs as we are conceding goals left, right and centre, so surely this is some trend.
Football’s most iconic defensive names are there in this pack: Carles Puyol, Giorgio Chiellini, and Petr Cech. Each of them brings something unique to a defensive setup with unique playstyles, so let’s break them down.
eFootball 2026 Epic National Guardians Players
Carles Puyol
- Position: CB
- Playing Style: Destroyer
- Show Time Skill: Long-reach Tackle and Fortress
I saw his autobuild numbers, and boy, haven’t they made Puyol an amazing defensive card? Well, definitely a personalised build would be the way to go. Starting things off, this Puyol is exactly what you expect from him, an aggressive defender going for every second ball.

He dives into every duel like it’s personal, he recovers ground fast, and locks down attackers instantly. His player ID has not seen justice fully before, but this card kind of is a really good feel of how things would go with him. No questions asked about numbers in defense, stacked.
For a smaller frame like Puyol, the Long-reach Tackle usually doesn’t feel very impactful, but Puyol takes good advantage of this. Aerial game might feel weaker, but still, I didn’t find any aerial duels lost. A 9-8-9-8-1 build would be the best.
Giorgio Chiellini
- Position: CB
- Playing Style: Build Up
- Show Time Skill: Aerial Fort and Long-reach Tackle
Chiellini is the calmer of the two, but no less effective. Another splendid card, which also gets the speed stat boost that other cards have been getting. He has solid awareness; his older Epic card was also loved by many, but this is a significant upgrade because of those two ST skills.

He has a good player build, and with the pace boosted, you can see he can easily catch the faster forwards. His reaction time is something I noticed could have been better, but maybe it is with the Build Up style.
Pair him with a more aggressive defender like Puyol (wait, you already have him above, in the same pack!), and you’ve got a perfect balance: one goes for the challenge, the other reads and plays the calmer role. Don’t forget to add the Heading skill here.
Peter Cech
- Position: GK
- Playing Style: Defensive Goalkeeper
- Show Time Skill: None
Cech is as steady as it gets. No Show Time skills, but that doesn’t really matter, really feel GK Directing Defense is kind of useless. He does what you want from a proper keeper: catches cleanly, saves those long rangers, and stays firm in one-on-ones.

Something that works in his favour is his build, amazing height, and frame for a Goalkeeper, and the stats are insanely good too. Again, many mistakes using him in a high line formation, so do the opposite. One of the top GKs currently.
Verdict on the eFootball 2026 National Guardians players
This pack delivers pure defensive class, and for me, it’s one of the more balanced releases we’ve had lately. Although for me, this might not be the outright best pack, you easily see three starter cards, three different playstyles that make them usable.
Overall, the value depends on what your team needs. If you’re missing a strong defensive trio, this pack fits perfectly. But if you already own similar Epic defenders, it’s more of a luxury pull than a must-have.
Pack Rating: 4 out of 5
