New Link Up Managers and playstyles continue to arrive in eFootball 2026, and this time, it’s Jurgen Klopp stepping into the spotlight. Known for high-intensity football, Klopp comes in with a very interesting tactical combination and a slightly different Link-Up approach compared to the likes of Xabi Alonso and Fabio Capello.
After testing multiple formations and adjusting individual instructions to suit his strengths, it became clear that Klopp is not just about chaos and pressing. There’s a clear structure behind how his system works. So here’s a complete guide on how to get the best out of Jurgen Klopp in eFootball 2026.
eFootball 2026 Jurgen Klopp Manager Guide: Introduction
Jürgen Klopp arrives in eFootball 2026 with proficiency in Possession Game and Quick Counter, two popular and most used tactics in the game. His double booster of +1 Speed and +1 Aggression perfectly mirrors the high-energy football he is known for, good for both counters and pressing off the ball too.
His Link-Up Playstyle is Over-the-Top Pass C, and it operates differently compared to most attacking-focused combinations. Here, the connection is between the Centrepiece, a Build Up centre-back, and the Key Man, positioned as a Prolific Winger on either flank.

When the centre-back gains possession in the defensive half, the winger instinctively begins a forward run into open space. The system enhances the accuracy of through balls and chipped passes from deep areas, while also improving the winger’s ability to control and finish after receiving the ball.
The result is a very direct attacking pattern. Instead of building slowly through midfield every time, Klopp’s setup allows you to bypass pressure with a single decisive pass, instantly turning defence into attack. I didn’t find it very effective, to be honest, but it definitely needs a strong ball-playing CB.
Best formations using Jurgen Klopp in eFootball 2026
Two formations bring out Klopp’s strengths. Since there is a link-up that requires the use of wingers, I’m giving you tactics that utilize them.
1) 4-3-3/4-2-1-3
The 4-3-3 is the most natural fit for Klopp’s wide-oriented Link-Up system. With Prolific Wingers on both sides, the pitch remains stretched, forcing opposing fullbacks to constantly track runs. Once your Build Up centre-back settles on the ball, you can immediately look for that diagonal over-the-top pass toward your winger.

In midfield, you can go with whatever setup you like; it can be a double pivot + AMF or a flat three. In both cases, I suggest a Box-to-Box midfielder paired with a deeper Anchorman is the best, since it keeps your structure intact when fullbacks push forward.
One thing to keep in mind is that in this setup, I lean toward a more defensive approach. That usually means using defensive fullbacks on both sides, along with faster centre-backs. Since Klopp’s system plays a high line, it’s naturally more vulnerable to through balls, so this setup helps reduce that risk.
2) 5-2-3
If you want to have that linkup intact and also not worry about your high line eating goals, I recommend this option. With three centre-backs, you gain extra cover against counterattacks, which is important since your wingers will constantly be making forward runs.

The two central midfielders should offer balance. One can sit deeper to shield the defence, while the other provides energy and support in transitions. Since the formation already provides defensive stability, you can allow your wing-backs slightly more freedom to push forward and support the Prolific Wingers.
Player Recommendations and Key Stats
Centrepiece (Build Up/CB)
Since Klopp’s Link-Up activates from deep positions, your Build Up centre-back needs more than just defensive solidity. Of course, strong Defensive Awareness and Physical Contact remain non-negotiable. But passing becomes essential.
Lofted Pass should ideally be in the 80s or above; however, this is a really hard find; you can only name a few amazing ball-playing CBs: Beckenbauer, Hesebe, and Piqué. Try the 70s range, it is enough, I feel, with the added skills. Low Pass and Ball Control are also important, especially when playing out under pressure.
Recommended Skills: One Touch Pass, Through Passing, Weighted Pass, Low Lofted Pass
Key Man (Prolific Winger/LWF/RWF)
Speed in the 90s makes a noticeable difference, particularly with the additional Speed boost from Klopp. Offensive Awareness ensures better timing of runs, while solid Finishing helps convert tight-angle chances after receiving diagonal balls.
Dribbling and Tight Possession also matter, as many situations will leave your winger isolated against a recovering defender. Strong trapping ability becomes even more effective under the Link-Up boost, allowing cleaner first touches at full sprint.
Recommended Skills: First Time Shot, Double Touch, Long Range Curler, Pinpoint Crossing
