eFootball 2026 Epic European Clubs Guardians (Beckenbauer, Hesebe, Ferrer) pack review

The defensive trio!

eFootball 2026 keeps pushing out Epic packs, and while some feel recycled, this one actually stands out thanks to the balance it offers. The Epic European Clubs Guardians pack is clearly built around defensive quality, featuring three legends who bring very different strengths to the table.

With Franz Beckenbauer headlining the pack alongside Makoto Hesebe and Albert Ferrer, this draw is for those who want some high rated CBs. Before spending your Coins, here’s a proper breakdown of what each card brings and whether this pack is worth spinning for.

eFootball 2026 Epic European Clubs Guardians players

Franz Beckenbauer

  • Position: CB
  • Playing Style: Build Up
  • Showtime Skills: Phenomenal Pass and Long-Reach Tackle

Beckenbauer is one of those cards that just ages well. Even his free version is still usable today, which says a lot considering how much the meta has shifted. This Epic version is easily the best pure ball-playing CB you can get right now.

Phenomenal Pass fits him perfectly. His passing already feels elite for a defender, this skill is very handy. Long-Reach Tackle is amazing, but Aerial Fort would be even better pairing especially since his height is often seen as a weakness in the current meta, where tall aerial monsters like Koller are a constant threat.

That said, I completely understand if someone feels hesitant using him strictly as a CB. He’s not the towering header type most people lean toward now. Personally, I like him even more when built as a DMF, because this libero role is kind of non-existent in competitive eFootball.

DMF/CMF is the role that fits him well, and you can even tweak him into a CMF if you want a deep-lying playmaker who can put up a defensive shift. Third CB is also a great option.

Makoto Hesebe

  • Position: CB
  • Playing Style: Build Up
  • Showtime Skills: Fortress and Visionary Pass

Hasebe feels like a toned-down version of Beckenbauer in many ways. He’s another ball-playing defender with very solid defensive fundamentals and clean distribution from the back. Visionary Pass helps him contribute to build-up play.

What’s a big miss is, though, is the lack of a proper defensive Showtime skill. For a CB with such strong defensive numbers, something like Long-Reach Tackle would have made a huge difference. The player model is also a bit disappointing.

Like Beckenbauer, he’s not tall, but unlike Becken, his leg length also feels short, which can affect interception reach. He’s good, no doubt, but yeah, I can’t call him a game-changing defender since we definitely need a card that is superior in many ways.

Albert Ferrer

  • Position: RB
  • Playing Style: Offensive Fullback
  • Showtime Skills: Fortress

Ferrer is just a fun card to use. He’s rapid, energetic, and feels very responsive on the pitch. His speed is his biggest weapon, and he can recover quickly even if he’s caught slightly out of position. You technically can use him at CB because he’ll catch almost anyone in a foot race.

But since his aerial presence is weak, so RB is clearly where he belongs. His progression leans heavily toward defending, which is interesting given that he’s an Offensive Fullback. You’ll need to tweak his build a bit if you want him to contribute more going forward.

Again, I have a problem with how they have given the skills. Edged Crossing should have been there atleast, Fortress for me is kind of useless for this card, so that’s another let down.

Best pick from the Epic European Clubs Guardians pack in eFootball 2026

I’ll be honest, I adore ball-playing CBs, so that’s the reason I spun for Der Kaiser. In real life, this backline would absolutely rock, you are getting an amazing defensive trio. However, the game is kinda very physical-heavy and you know, with smart assist and the crossing meta, most of these cards fail to find its worth.

If you care about these aspects, skip this. If you want to have some fun playing the game without competitive tension, this pack fits best for you.

Here’s my final cards tier list and pack rating.
