Fortnite is back to being a fan favourite as they have made a lot of additions to the game to cater to the needs of the players. One of the newest additions to the game has been Ballistic Shields, which are an Epic rarity item and are very useful as they can used at both the items of defending and attacking. So in this guide, we are going to talk about how you can counter enemies who are using Ballistic Shields in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1.

How to counter Ballistic Shields in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1

Even though Ballistic Shields are relatively new in Fortnite they have turned out to be fan favourites. This is because it is very versatile and can be used not only while defending but also while attacking. The shield can be used to cover all of your upper body while some parts of your lower half are exposed along with the arm you are firing your weapon with.

As it is a great defensive item, it can be quite difficult to eliminate players who are using it. So here are the ways that you can use to counter Ballistic Shields in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1.

1. Targeting the Weak Spots

Even though the shield can cover most of the player, their lower half and right hand remain exposed. Their back is also left completely vulnerable which means if you are playing as a duo or a squad, your teammates can distract the enemy while the other shoots them from behind.

You should also aim at the enemy’s right hand and lower half. They can still be covered by the enemy if they are smart enough but if you can keep on pressuring them, the chances of them being hit after some time is inevitable.

2. By using Grenades

This is one of the best ways of countering enemies using Ballistic Shields. This is because grenades deal damage to a whole area and not just one person in particular. They can also disorient your enemy which provides you with an even better chance of eliminating them.

Cluster Clingers are one of the best options in this scenario as they stick to the object you throw it at which means if you can aim nicely and throw it on the shield itself, then there’s no chance the opponent can save themselves from the blast.

3. By using the Grapple Blade and Shotguns

This is a great way to get close to your opponent as the Grapple Blade pulls you closer to your target. While using the Grapple Blade, you should keep a shotgun in your hand so that as you get closer, you can deal huge damage to the enemy.

Shotguns are best in this scenario as they deal a lot of damage at close ranges. Also if you feel like the fight isn’t going your way, you can always use the Grapple Blade to go away to a safe distance in a short amount of time.

4. By destroying the Ballistic Shield

For this method, you will need to choose a weapon that can fire for a long time and also deals high damage. You will need to constantly shoot at the shield for this method to work which means you’ll also need to carry a lot of ammo.

A time will come when the shield will fall briefly from the opponent’s hands for a brief amount of time and that will be the moment you need to strike. You should carry a shield while you are using this method too as you’ll need to defend yourself while you are going to reload your weapon several times because of the heavy firing.

So these are all the ways using which you can counter Ballistic Shields in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1. None of them is guaranteed to work as the success depends on the skills of the players too.
