FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 4-8 Fixture Watch: Best teams to target and avoid

Plan your moves accordingly

The early international break is now out of the way and players will be looking forward to getting back with their clubs for more league action. For Fantasy PL managers, there will likely be a lot of planning to carry out, as some squads have their fixtures turning too. The difficulty of the fixtures for a team definitely has an impact on the performances of their individual players, which obviously equates to more FPL points. Some FPL managers will be looking to activate their wildcard post-GW4 (during GW -7/8) too, which means this is a very good opportunity to start all fresh. In this FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 4-8 Fixture Watch we will address the best teams to target ahead of the next 5 gameweeks, as well as the recommended teams to avoid too. Use this as a guideline to help you pick out the FPL players that have the most potential, as well as to help you avoid the traps too.

These teams are expected to get a good result in the majority of their next 5 matches, which means it would be a pretty good idea to pick up some of their players.

1. Wolves

Wolves are another one of the three teams yet to get a single point this season, however, it shouldn’t go unnoticed that they’ve done fairly well against the teams they’ve played. The side fought hard despite losing 1-0 in all 3 matches against Leicester, Tottenham, and Man United. Their fixtures turn very strongly from Gameweek 4 onwards though, and despite there not being any established Wolves players for FPL, perhaps we will see some crop up now.

The recommended player is Jimenez (7.4 million) who has proven to be very deadly in past seasons. However, with the abundance of premium attackers, it may be difficult to find room for the Wolves striker in your FPL teams. Traore (6 million) has shown promise in the last few matches and the next few could trigger his explosion in FPL.

2. Arsenal

It’s a pretty obvious fact now, Arsenal has had a very poor to the 2021/22 season of the Premier League. Yet to score a goal, the Gunners sit 20th right at the bottom of the table. However, with their fixtures turning quite strongly for Gameweek 4 to 8, as well as players from injury finding their way back into the starting line-up, perhaps we could see some change.

The first 2 fixtures against Norwich and Burnley are all winnable on paper, which means that you could pick up a differential player to bump up your rank advantage. The recommended player here would be Smith-Rowe (5.4 million), who has been a small spark during the first three matches for a pretty dull Arsenal.

3. Liverpool

Liverpool is a team many would be satisfied to see in this list, as their star assets have been very profitable in the initial three game weeks. The majority of their next 5 matches should be winnable, and the only major obstacle is Gameweek 7, where they face title holders Manchester City.

However, it is worth noting that Liverpool will play City at Anfield, and with fans back in the stadium, the Home status will likely have its impact once again. All in all, Liverpool is definitely a team to own or even triple-up on. It goes without saying, the FPL king Mohammed Salah (12.5 million) will be a must-have, whilst the likes of Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, Jota, and Mane all being good assets as well.

Note: Along with these three teams, Chelsea also has an amazing fixture swing from Gameweek 7 onwards. People wildcarding currently have already taken note and have picked up the likes of Lukaku (11.5 million) and Rudiger (5.5 million) to stay ahead of the curve.

These teams have a tough run of games ahead of them, and the chances of them getting many points from these games are unlikely. It’s advised to steer away from these players for the next 5 Gameweeks, as other options will definitely look more appealing.

1. Aston Villa

Aston Villa had a pretty successful transfer window overall, however, they lost a very key player in Jack Grealish. The side sits 11th in the table with 4 points, and hasn’t got much to look forward to in the coming weeks. Villa faces 3 of the classic Top 6 as well as Everton and arguably a relatively strong side in Wolves too. This may be a good time to sell Danny Ings if you’re one of the 32% of people owning him.

Luckily, there are a plethora of options for attack available in exchange including Lukaku, Ronaldo, DCL, Antonio, and more. Emiliano Martinez is another highly owned Villa player at 22% ownership. Especially with the strength of the opponents coming up, the chances of clean sheets are low, which means Martinez is someone you should consider switching out. Also, any of the Villa differentials per se, such as Leon Bailey and Emiliano Buendia and will be much less impactful now, due to their injuries and difficult fixtures upcoming.

2. Southampton

Southampton is yet to win a game this season, and the taste of victory may come a little later, as the upcoming fixtures look tough, unfortunately. The Saints play 2 strong title contenders in Manchester City and Chelsea, both at home too. On top of that, they face an in-form West Ham, and a generally explosive Leeds and Wolves side. The slowly arising differential in Adam Armstrong is probably not a recommended choice anymore, due to his fixtures and threat potential being outmatched by many other players in that position.

In addition, the recent budget defender in Livramento (4.1 million) is not somebody you will want to transfer in despite the recent hype. If you do own him though, it is advised obviously to not have him starting, but selling him is unnecessary as he doesn’t restrict much of the budget.

3. Brentford

Brentford has had a strong start to the Premier League season, as they sit 10th, but are yet to lose a game so far. However, things will be about to get a little tougher, with The Bees preparing to face the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, and West Ham within their next 5 games.

Brentford

Brentford’s talisman Ivan Toney had incredibly high ownership at the start of the season, and this has gradually sloped down due to his quiet performances. He did get a 6-pointer in his last game, however, it is still advised to look for alternative options, due to the fixture difficulty increasing greatly. Furthermore, the range of different strikers available should offer you enough choice as well.
