FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 6 Watchlist: 5 Fantasy players to watch out for

5 players to transfer in for the next gameweeks!

After the end of FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 6, there has been a lot of share of points with the premium assets delivering huge points. Apart from the popular picks, there are quite a number of players, who have impressed over the weekend with points and underlying stats. The onset of good fixtures along with their form can really turn them into good replacements for the underperforming assets of the fantasy team. All the managers are trying to stabilize their teams with suitable options before the price hikes. In this FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 6 Watchlist, we will be looking at 5 Fantasy players, who could become future transfer targets, carrying their good run.

Many managers are thinking to use Wild Card on Gameweek 7/8 hence few players on our watchlist are mainly focused on the next 2/3 gameweeks to use our free transfers on maximizing points.

1. Romelu Lukaku (Forward) – 11.6 million

Romelu Lukaku is a fairly obvious target but as his gameweek 7 fixture swing draws ever closer it might be useful to revisit his numbers. The Belgian was unfortunate to come away without a return in the 3-0 win over the Spurs on Sunday producing 3 shots all from inside the box and 3 attempted assists. His 0.76 expected assist figure could only be beaten by Josh King and Ivan Toney among forwards during the gameweek.

Since his arrival in the Premier League in gameweek 2, no forward has taken as many as his 15 shots in total or his 14 shots inside the box. Only Cristiano Ronaldo can better his 3 big chances or his 2.75 expected goals figure. But creatively Lukaku has been far superior to the Portugal international with only Gabriel Jesus creating more than his two big chances and only Raul Jimenez can better his 8 attempted assists.

Lukaku has collected 25 FPL points since he has rejoined Chelsea. In his last 4 matches, he has faced Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa and, Tottenham. Therefore, If it’s a problem for an FPL manager to include him instantly then it is suggested to include him in the revised squad after using the wildcard in the upcoming gameweek.

2. Adam Armstrong (Forward) – 6.0 million

One player that may be able to help with the issue of having two premium forwards is budget forward Adam Armstrong who was impressive in Southampton’s goalless draw with Man City this weekend. No player from either side took as many as his 8 touches in the opposition’s box while only Sterling could match his tally of 4 shots, 3 of which came inside the box. The 24-year-old also saw a contentious penalty decision overturned after Kyle Walker had rushed back to deny him a shooting opportunity.

Armstrong got off the mark for Southampton on the opening weekend against Everton and won a late penalty to rescue a point in the 2-2 draw with Newcastle in gameweek 3. He took a league-high 189 shots with Blackburn in the Championship last season while his 28 goals only trailed Ivan Toney with 33. Only Michael Antonio has taken more than his 16 shots this season amongst forwards and he ranks joint sixth for efforts on target with 5. Home fixtures against Leeds, Burnley and, Aston Villa from gameweek 8 add to his appeal as a wildcard option.

3. Allan Saint-Maximin (Forward) – 6.7 million

With an average of 5.4 FPL points/game (total 27 FPL points) in 5 gameweeks, Saint-Maximin has netted twice and provided 2 assists so far. He has an average of 5.2 touches in the opposition’s box and having an expected non-penalty goal figure of x0.25 with x0.24 Expected assist figure. During this time, the Frenchman has smashed 6 shots in the box and created 11 big chances for Newcastle.

Saint-Maximin was phenomenal against Leeds scoring the only goal for Newcastle for the 1-1 draw and also bagged bonus 2 FPL points in that game however, fixture wise Newcastle has a moderate fixture coming up ahead. They will be facing Watford, Wolves, Spurs and, Crystal Palace in their next four gameweeks.

4. Ismaila Sarr (Midfielder) – 6.1 million

Ismaila Sarr struck twice as Watford beat fellow promoted side Norwich by three goals to one. The 23-year-old hadn’t registered a single big chance across the opening four-game weeks but found himself with four of them this weekend against the Canaries. His 5 shots on target ranked joint top with Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohammed Salah.

Again that figure was more than double the four efforts he landed on target during the opening four gameweeks combined which strengthens the idea that we should continue to target Norwich’s defense as they’ve shipped a league-high 14 goals now and only Leeds and Newcastle have fared worse for expected goals conceded. Coincidentally those are the two teams that Watford faces in the next two gameweeks highlighting Sarr’s appeal as a short-term pick before using the wildcard especially if Raphinha continues to struggle with his hip issue.

5. Mohamed Elyounoussi (Midfielder) – 5.5 million

M. Elyounoussi is one of the most underrated FPL players widely overlooked by thousands of managers. He has not started the first two games for Southampton but got his name on the team sheet with full time thereafter. In his last 3 games, he has made an average of 4.67 FPL points/game (total 14 FPL Points). Statistically, he is better than D. Gray with x0.11 expected Assist Figure, x0.47 non-penalty goal figure, and 4.67 (average) touches in the opponent’s box.

Elyounoussi’s non-penalty expected goal figure is better than many FPL forward and he is also a better choice from the fixture point of view. Southhampton has a pretty good fixture ahead which includes Wolves, Burnley, Watford, Aston Villa, and, Norwich and has only one tough opponent, Chelsea, on gameweek 7. So, if an FPL manager is looking for a budget midfielder for the long term then here is his man.
