Nevertheless, the show must go on, and we’re back with the list of the top 5 differential players from the upcoming FPL gameweek that can prove most beneficial to your rank. It’s looking to be a hectic day as usual, with FPL managers over the world trying to follow the events of all the matches at once. Perhaps sneaking in a few differentials can catch your league opponents off-guard!

1. Alex Telles (Defender) – 5.0 million

Manchester United has kept back-to-back clean sheets during their last run-out in the league. Ever since GW13, Alex Telles was the preferred option at LB, and it looks as though this could continue under Ragnick’s management. Prior to joining United, Telles has a strong attacking record, tallying 30 goals and 71 assists in his whole senior career to date.

Luckily, he’s also on some set-pieces as well. He has been assigned corners and direct free-kicks which opens huge potential for some FPL points. In addition, the United man has been unlucky to hit the woodwork twice, suggesting he’s getting close to scoring. Only 0.9% of managers own Telles in their FPL teams, and so any point return would make a huge difference.

The Red Devils travel to Newcastle in GW19, who sit in the relegation zone at 19th place. Only goal difference saves the Magpies from being rock bottom, a symbol of how underwhelming they’ve been this season. All season, they’ve scored just 18 goals from an xG of 17.6, both numbers ranking 16th and 18th respectively. United is predicted for a 5th highest 44% chance at a clean sheet in this fixture.

2. Ben Davies (Defender) – 4.5 million

Ben Davies has 2 assists in just 6 starts this season. Ever since Spurs made the appointment of Antonio Conte, Davis has started every game and looks quite nailed at center-back. He has the highest xG out of any of the defense and has created a further three chances as well. Accounting for the whole season, Spurs have conceded the 6th least goals (19) and the 4th best xGC (20.2), despite the leaky start to the season.

Fans will have Conte to thank for this, who has reformed the way in which Spurs cover their net. Since his arrival, Spurs have managed 3 clean sheets in his first 5 games in charge. In GW19, the North London club is predicted 44% chance at a clean sheet, meaning Davies could be looking at a good points total. At 4.5 million, he’s a bargain pick to take advantage of Spurs’ sturdy defense and is only owned by 2% of FPL managers.

Tottenham faces Crystal Palace in GW19 at home who have been having a decent season so far. Despite that, Spurs having the edge playing in their own stadium is a big factor. In addition, they’ll face Southampton and Watford shortly after, and their recent postponed fixtures mean that it looks likely they’ll be getting a double gameweek very soon.

3. Kieran Tierney (Defender) – 4.8 million

After being sidelined with an injury, Tierney is now back and fit to start for Arsenal. He has started the last 4 games and has helped keep a solid 3 clean sheets, notching a further 2 assists in that period as well. In his 12 starts all season, the Scot has totaled 12 key passes, but creating isn’t all he can do either.

He has also recorded 5 shots in the box from a total of 10, with 4 hitting the target as well. As a club, Arsenal has been solid at the back, with 8 clean sheets this season, the 4th most in the league. The bookies are predicting the Gunners to be the third most likely side to add to their clean sheet totals, with a probability of 48%.

The GW19 fixture for Arsenal is a trip to Norwich, which is one of the kinder fixtures this season so far. In the reverse fixture, Arsenal came out victorious with a 1-0 win, managing a clean sheet as well. The Canaries have been leaky at the back as well, which has led to their current 20th place standing. They have only scored 8 goals, the lowest of any other team. In addition, their xG of 16.8 is second from the bottom as well.

4. Leandro Trossard (Midfielder) – 6.2 million

Trossard has long been a key focal point for Brighton in attack and is again looking like a good pick ahead of the upcoming fixtures. Despite his poor run in recent weeks, blanking five times in the last five games, Trossard’s underlying stats look promising. GW19 sees Brighton play at home, which is a comforting sight as Trossard’s influence is much greater in this situation.

Over the course of the season, the Belgian International has tallied 29 shots, with 11 on target, 14 of which have come from inside the box. All three of these numbers are the most out of any other Brighton asset. Furthermore, Trossard’s 16 chances created at home is another team-leading total.

Brighton faces Brentford next, and in the reverse fixture back in GW4, Trossard scored a haul of 11 points, which is a personal record for this campaign that hasn’t been beaten since. The Bees have struggled to play at an external stadium, conceding at least 2 goals in each of their last 4 away games. This could be a great opportunity to plan ahead of the curve with one of the key attacking outlets at Brighton, which is owned by just 1.5% of managers.

5. Gabriel Martinelli (Midfielder) – 5.3 million

Gabriel Martinelli has exploded in the last few weeks of the Premier League. It seems as though his hard work with Mikel Arteta has very well paid off, after his shortage of game time prior. He has totaled 6 g/a in the last 6 games and has blanked just once in that period. His five big chances are the most out of all his teammates, and his average per 90 is the 4th best of all FPL assets.

Martinelli’s 33 touches in the opposition box, 14 shots, and 13 in the box all rank him second amongst Arsenal players. Only Saka beats the Brazilian in each of these categories. However, the 19-year-old comes in at 6.3 million with 10.4% ownership, as opposed to Martinelli’s 5.3 million price tag and just 5.2% ownership. He ranks 7th for the most expected points in GW19 of all FPL assets, with 5.18 points. He’s also predicted another 37% chance at a goal, and a 31% chance at an assist as well.

Arsenal travel to Carrow Road for GW19, to face Norwich. They look set for the drop unfortunately for the fans, as they sit bottom of the Premier League table. The Canaries’ 34 goals conceded from an xGC of 30.4 are both 18th out of all other teams in the league.
