FPL Gameweek 21 Differentials 2021/22: 5 Fantasy Players that can help boost your rank

It's easy to pick the big players, but who are some of the lesser know potential stars of the competition!

With 2022 starting from today, we are now just preparing for the 2nd half of the Fantasy Season. All the drama, tension, and last-minute knee-jerking transfers now enter into the final stages with the Premier League. Beware with your transfers as Covid still waves loom the fear of fixtures getting canceled causing huge chaos amongst FPL managers. It is highly advised to keep players that get minutes on the bench to combat the heavy rotation. As usual, we’ve compiled a list of 5 differential players with low ownership. These assets are risky, but highly rewarding, with each of their returns contributing greatly to your ranks. Here is a list of FPL Gameweek 21 Differentials 2021/22 that can bolster your squads ahead of gameweek 21.

Nevertheless, the show must go on, and we’re back with the list of the top 5 differential players from the upcoming FPL gameweek that can prove most beneficial to your rank. Remember, this gameweek is special as Everton, Brentford, and West Ham are blessed with a double gameweek with Newcastle being the only team without a fixture having their game with Southampton postponed. With the chaos all around, perhaps sneaking in a few differentials can catch your league opponents off-guard!

1. Jordan Pickford (Goalkeeper) – 4.9 million

With the new double fixtures announced in GW21, Everton has been revealed as one of the 3 teams with an upcoming double. They face Brighton and Leicester together and also have a promising schedule following as well. They only face two of the classic top 6 in the next 11 fixtures. As a result, Everton players will likely be in demand, and England star Jordan Pickford looks like a strong option. The Toffees are unlucky to have had many postponed games in recent weeks, the last playing in GW17.

Pickford has averaged 3.2 saves per game all season, equating to essentially an extra FPL point every game. With just a 4% ownership, any return can be hugely beneficial to your rank. With the current go-to goalkeepers like Ramsdale and Mendy all coming up against tough opposition as well as potential blank gameweeks, Pickford.

2. Marc Cucurella (Defender) – 5.0 million

The Spanish left-back has been the Seagulls’ top defender so far this season from FPL’s perspective. The Brighton man has collected 64 FPL points thus far, the majority of which has come from clean sheets. He is ranked 8th in the creativity index among defenders and rightly so, due to his almost 2 Key Passes per 90 minutes. He has supplied a total of 13 crosses and made 5 touches in the oppositions’ box in his last four gameweeks and has an expected assist figure of 0.12 (xA/90) during that spell.

Brighton faces Everton this week and being very good defensively, their left-back Cucurella is no doubt a differential choice, with only 1.9% ownership. Lastly, it should also be noted that he is the one who earned the 3 Bonus Points in each of Brighton’s last two matches.

3. Lucas Moura (Midfielder) – 6.5 million

When targeting Spurs attackers, most FPL managers look towards the usual Kane and Son combination. However, one of the underlying contributors on the side, Lucas Moura, seemingly goes unnoticed. The Brazilian is owned by just 4% of managers, despite having scored the 2nd most FPL points amongst his teammates since Conte’s arrival in GW11. His GW19 performance was the highlight, where Lucas tallied a huge 17 points from the goal and 2 assists. He has created 10 chances in that time, including 4 big chances which are the joint-most in the team alongside Kane.

The opposition is, of course, Watford who have been very underwhelming defensively this season. They are still waiting for their first clean sheet of the season, despite being halfway through the term, and are now up against some strong opposition. They’ve also conceded 45 big chances this term so far, which is only worsened by Newcastle amongst all teams. Watford is looking at just a 17% chance at a clean sheet as well, which does not look too great.

4. Said Benrahma (Midfielder) – 5.9 million

West Ham United has a double gameweek ahead of them, playing the ranks of crystal palace and Norwich City, away and home respectively. The 5.9 million rated midfielder Said Benrahma is one of those you can surely bank to boost your rank in the fantasy premier league as a potential differential pick. The midfielder has already accumulated 83 FPL points this season, scoring 5 times and assisting thrice, also gaining points for 5 clean sheets.

Benrahma also scored 8 points in the previous encounter against Watford FC, hence convincing FPL managers about his return to form. He is currently selected by 16.5% of global FPL managers, and might guarantee good returns with the enticing double game week coming up in the first gw of the new year!

5. Odsonne Edouard (Forward) – 6.4 million

The Crystal Palace forward has so far collected 61 points so far, 14 of which came last week against Norwich. Palace’s opponents West Ham have really struggled defensively and the Frenchman can capitalize. No other PL player has taken as many shots on goal as Edouard (13) in the past 5 gameweeks. He also ranks 1st in no. of shots inside the box, third for big chances (4), third for expected goals (2.29 xG), and first for key passes (6) as well in the same time span.

Edouard’s 2.64 shot per 90 minutes, 4.40 xG is no doubt decent for a budget forward. Besides, his 3.4% ownership makes him a strong differential suggestion in our list.  He faces West Ham, Brighton, Liverpool, Norwich, and Brentford next, and with Zaha suspended and also leaving for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), he can be a strong contender for the third budget forward.
