FPL Gameweek 23 Differentials 2021/22: 5 Fantasy Players that can help boost your rank

It's easy to pick the big players, but who are some of the lesser know potential stars of the competition!

The 2nd half of the PL season is going on with its usual rhythm of chills and thrills. The FPL too, despite several postponed fixtures, is competitive as usual. It is now a vital time frame in FPL’s perspective when the managers need to boost up their ranks for a better finish. We as usual would guide fantasy managers with our weekly guides on differential players. These players are owned by a very less percentage of managers worldwide. Also, are also full of potential to provide decent fantasy points to their owners, based upon their forms and fixtures. Here is a list of FPL Gameweek 23 Differentials 2021/22 that can bolster your squads ahead of Gameweek 23.

FPL Gameweek 23 differentials 2021/22

This upcoming week starts with an early kickoff between Watford and Norwich. As many as 7 teams have an FDR or 2 this week, with rumored DGW for 2 of them too. Burnley and Arsenal might again get their fixtures postponed. However, as long as it isn’t official, we would be making our suggestions considering their game happens.

1. Matthew Cash (Defender) – 5.1 million

Matthew Cash comes in as a nailed starter for the Villa first 11 in the RWB post. While Lucas Digne has impressed over the weekend against Manchester United, he can face competition for his starting spot in left-wing with Matt Targett and even Ashley Young.

Playing almost every min for the Villa team, Cash possesses 2.87 touches in the box per 90 mins. He also has 0.13 non-penalty expected Goals+assists with 0.5 xG and 0.8 xA per 90 mins, proving him much more creative than a goal threat as you will expect from your attacking fullback. He plays wide, hugging the touchline and you can expect those early crosses from Cash in each of Villa’s next five fixtures.

Aston Villa has widely favorable fixtures in the upcoming gameweeks with Everton, Leeds, Newcastle, and Watford up next. Additionally, they also have two earlier postponed fixtures with Leeds and Burnley which if are re-scheduled in between these, then Aston Villa can be the team to target for the future, possibly even going for a Aston Villa triple-up.

2. Rayan Ait Nouri (Defender) – 4.3 million

The French wing-back of Wolves has been under the radar of fantasy managers looking for differential choices, for a while. Wolves have been too good defensively this season, which makes the team’s pocket-friendly defenders worth a take. Chosen by only 0.8% of managers, and with an xA of 1.2 and 1.12 Key passes per game, Ait-Nouri can be that defender from Wolves who might be worth consideration.

Ait-Nouri has collected 11 points in GW 22 against Southampton, and this GW 23, his team faces Brentford, who have really struggled in front of goal lately. Hence, fantasy managers can expect a clean sheet and maybe assist points too, from the Frenchman. Note that, Ait-Nouri’s rank is 29th among defenders in the creativity index.

3. Philippe Coutinho (Midfielder) – 7.0 million

Owned by total managers just below 5%, the Brazilian midfield sensation had a pretty decent GW 22. He marked his PL return with a comeback goal against Manchester United to end the game 2-2 and rescue a point for his team. The £7m midfielder bagged 6 points the previous game week for the 1 goal in his short cameo.

Soon, he became a favorite for many managers to be transferred to their respective teams. However, as long as he isn’t a sure starter and his form gains momentum, he won’t be a must-have according to us. Instead, Coutinho can be a differential gamble due to his 0.8 xG in PL this season, after just 22 minutes of play.

Villa has a very favorable next few fixtures (with a chance of DGW23), the first of which in GW 23 is Everton. Everton, who have been very poor defensively this season, recently fired their manager Rafa Benitez and would be playing under their caretaker manager. Hence, fantasy managers may take a gamble with Coutinho.

4. Jack Harrison (Midfielder) – 5.5 million

Midfielder Jack Harrison has accumulated 29 FPL points in his previous 2 gameweeks. He is Leeds’ second-best midfielder in FPL and a total of 1.2% of fantasy managers own him. His hattrick against an in-form West Ham side made sure his owners get no less than 20 fantasy points in GW22.

In this season’s, Harrison has had 1.5 shots on goal per match besides 1.6 key passes per game. Also, considering his 0.72 xG/90, 0.19 xA/90 in his last two gameweeks and next opponent to be a 19th placed Newcastle, the £5.5m midfielders would be worth taking a shot.

5. James Ward-Prowse (Midfielder) – 6.3 million

Perhaps the only differential choice in this list who is a differential, mainly because of his fixture this week. The Southampton midfielder has averaged almost 9 FPL points per game in his last 5 games. Despite being selected by 3.3% of the managers worldwide, he is undoubtedly the Saints’ best midfielder, who poses a great threat from setpieces also.

The Englishman ranked 3rd among midfielders in both the influence and creativity index, he should definitely be worth considering if the managers aren’t much fussy about FDR. Additionally, his 1.54 shots per 90 and 1.1 key passes per 90 over 3.3 Season xG should be enough to convince the FPL managers.
