Genshin Impact Lynette Guide: Abilities, Playstyle, and More

Genshin Impact's new character Lynette and her abilities explained!

Genshin Impact Version 4.0 debuts “Elegance in the Shadows” Lynette (anemo/sword), the first 4* character from Fontaine. She is also given to everyone for free after reaching Adventure Rank 25. She is a decent Anemo support character who provides Ousia-aligned attacks to counter Pneuma-aligned enemies. This guide will provide a detailed breakdown of how her abilities as Lynette work and how to play him in a team in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact Lynette Guide: Abilities description

Talent upgrade priority

Elemental burst > Elemental skill.

Her Normal attacks are not used in ideal team rotations, so they can be left unleveled.

Normal attack: Rapid Ritesword

Normal Attack

Performs up to 4 rapid strikes.

Charged Attack

Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to unleash 2 rapid sword strikes.

Plunging Attack

Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

Elemental skill: Enigmatic Feint

Flicks her mantle and executes an Enigma Thrust, dealing Anemo DMG. When the Enigma Thrust hits an opponent, it will restore Lynette’s HP based on her Max HP, and in the 4s afterward, she will lose a certain amount of HP per second. Based on whether you press or hold this ability, she will use Enigma Thrust differently.

Press

She swiftly uses an Enigma Thrust.

Hold

Lynette will enter a high-speed Pilfering Shadow state and apply Shadowsign to a nearby opponent. You can control her movement direction during this state, and you can end it prematurely by using this skill again. When this high-speed state ends, Lynette will unleash her Enigma Thrust.

If there is an opponent with Shadowsign applied to them nearby, Lynette will approach them in a flash before using Enigma Thrust. A maximum of 1 opponent can have Shadowsign at any one time. When this opponent gets too far from Lynette, the Shadowsign will be canceled.

Arkhe: Ousia

At specific intervals, Lynette will unleash a Surging Blade when she uses Enigma Thrust, dealing Ousia-aligned Anemo DMG.

Elemental burst: Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift

Lynette raises her mantle high, dealing AoE Anemo DMG, using skillful sleight of hand to make a giant Bogglecat Box appear!

Bogglecat Box

  • Taunts nearby opponents, attracting their attacks.
  • Deals Anemo DMG to nearby opponents at intervals.
  • When the Bogglecat Box comes into contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro, it will gain the corresponding element and additionally fire Vivid Shots that will deal DMG from that element at intervals.

Elemental Absorption of this kind will only occur once during this ability’s duration.

Ascension 1 passive: Sophisticated Synergy

Within 10s after using Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift, when there are 1/2/3/4 Elemental Types in the party, all party members’ ATK will be increased by 8%/12%/16%/20% respectively.

Ascension 4 passive: Props Positively Prepped

After the Bogglecat Box summoned by Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift performs Elemental Conversion, Lynette’s Elemental Burst will deal 15% more DMG. This effect will persist until the Bogglecat Box’s duration ends.

Utility passive: Loci-Based Mnemonics

Shows the location of nearby Recovery Orbs on the minimap. The Aquatic Stamina and HP gained from touching Orbs will be increased by 25%.

Genshin Impact Lynette Guide: Abilities explained

Normal attack: Rapid Ritesword

Generally not very useful.

Elemental skill: Enigmatic Feint

The press version hits an enemy in front of her and deals anemo DMG as well as Swirling any elemental aura. It can even hit multiple enemies if they are close to each other. The hold version grants her increased mobility (Just like Yelan, but slower) and allows her to mark 1 enemy to hit after ending the skill. Unlike Yelan, Lynette cannot mark multiple enemies. The effect of the hit in the held version is the same as in the press version. To end the hold skill, press the skill button again, do not press the dash button as it will cancel the skill.

When Lynette hits an enemy, it will regenerate 25% of her max HP, then for the next 4s, she will lose 6% of her current HP per second. This HP drain/regen mechanic probably ties into the Fontaine artifacts/weapons and it may be useful in the future. After using her skill, Lynette will launch Ousia-aligned Anemo DMG every 10s, this will help neutralize Pneuma-aligned enemies in combat.

Elemental burst: Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift

Lynette summons a box that taunts enemies and periodically deals with Anemo DMG. Unfortunately, this burst does not offer any suction. When the box absorbs an element, it will fire additional hits of that element.

Ascension 1 passive: Sophisticated Synergy

The ATK buff is decent, but do not try to build a team with 4 elements if it ruins synergy.

Ascension 4 passive: Props Positively Prepped

Additional burst DMG is always nice to have since it is one of the only ways Lynette deals with off-field DMG.

Utility passive: Loci-Based Mnemonics

The 25% bonus HP/stamina recovery can be vital as it is the only way to heal while underwater.

Genshin Impact Lynette Guide: Playstyle

As an Anemo unit, Lynette can equip the Viridicent Venerer set and shred elemental RES of enemies. She can fit into just about any team that needs Sucrose or Kazuha.

She will not be as good as them at buffing DMG, but she will get the job done. At C6, she can also act as an Anemo driver like Sucrose, but not as effective.

Final Thoughts

The best thing about Lynette is that she is freely obtainable by everyone while Sucrose and Kazuha are gacha exclusive. She is one of the few Ousia-aligned characters in the game, which might become relevant if Pneuma-aligned enemies are added to the Spiral Abyss.
