So, I made this HAIKYU FLY HIGH beginners’ guide to help you with everything you will face, and then you can enjoy the game to the fullest.
As I played the game for quite some time, there were many things to explore and learn. But we will start with the preliminary ones, where you get to know the in-game mechanics, options, and other features. This beginner’s guide will help you understand everything, hopefully. Besides, if you’re enjoying and want to explore other options, you can take a look at our other coverages, like the redeem code guide. Who doesn’t like some freebies?
HAIKYU!! FLY HIGH: Gameplay overview
The game is based on an anime series by the same name. While the game is appreciated and loved by all, it has also received great returns from the community. You will experience the thrill of building your dream team, challenging fierce opponents, and reliving iconic volleyball moments.

Though the title features a side-mounted view, the animations are more lively, and it won’t bore you at all. You start from your school team, where volleyball matches are at the center of your focus, and it’s a war to be the top ranker. When playing, you can see the bond and select the squad as you like. I will be discussing this in the latter part of this article.
However, there will be serve, block, and setting up smash. You can also see the opponent’s power before starting a match. There will also be some targets that, upon fulfilling, you will earn stars. There will be two types of rewards as well: Clear Rewards and Fixed Rewards. Now, let’s know some game basics and mechanisms.
Utilise the Recruit System to get new players
The recruitment system is multifaceted. The New Team Rally option will get you guaranteed SSR players, but it sets a time limit like an event. I only recommend this if you’re a P2P. The greatest decoy also guarantees SSR players but needs the greatest decoy badges.

You can use the Victorious Control Tower in the early game, as the title will give you some tokens. The last one is Superior Recruit, and it uses recruit tokens, which you will get over time by playing.
EXP earning should be a priority
EXP is very important for doing several things. But you need to remember that Stamina is important as it is limited. You can get free stamina from the top for free each day. You can occasionally exchange currencies for stamina, but the early game needs a boost, which you should get by using free stamina each day.
Stamina is used for purchasing the Training Camp journey, practice matches, etc. You will recover each stamina every 5 minutes. Besides, you can claim free stamina from the event page. Moreover, an Afternoon Nap also gives you some.
Understanding your Player Roles
The players have designated roles based on the positions for which they’re best suited. You need to carefully craft and select the team before a match. Your setter will perform tosses and set up a smash each time you make a move through him.

The blocker roles are for blocking a smash and setting counters. The wing spikers are for attacking from the side, and the libero will be in charge of defense. Lineup specialty is another thing you should know. There are 4 lineup specialties: Power Attack, Quick Attack, Block, and Receive.
The Core setter determines the team’s speciality. When a team lineup speciality counters another during a match, the countering team gains a 30% power boost in actions corresponding to its speciality. And to boost the momentum, you can obtain Cheer Characters and their fragments through. These characters are only available in certain stages of the Training Camp journey.
Other in-game basics
The first thing to know is the Lineup composition. From a squad of 13 players, seven are starters and six are bench players. The starting lineup must include 1 setter, 2 wing spikers, 2 middle blockers, 1 opposite hitter, and 1 libero. You cannot insert multiple players with identical names in one lineup.

Now the player rotation. You can use the rotation button before starting a match to rotate the positions of your players. There are six positions, three of them will start in the first row and the rest three will stand on the second. The position 1 player is for serving, and you should select someone with a high serving rating to have an advantage.
Then comes the bond. There are two types of bonds: School Bond and Deployment Bond. The first one activates when 4 or more players are from the same school. The deployment bond activates when all players in a Deployment Bond Group are on the court. There are bond bonuses when players are tied in a bond.
HAIKYU!! FLY HIGH Beginners Guide and Tips
As you now know quite of the game, here are some tips that will save your time and help you to progress faster.
1. Play the missions from the left screen
Starting missions are called the Rookie Program and give you super crucial early game rewards, including recruit tickets, EXP, gold coins, etc. Completing the Rookie Program will get you 10x pull, so it is the primary thing you should complete.
2. Join a Club
If you join a club, it will give you extra resources like daily fragments to upgrade your characters. Besides, you can participate in club events to get SSR items and other in-game currencies. Daily EXP is another thing you can get from the club.
3. Rookie Golas will grant you Recruit Ticklets and SSR players

Not only early missions, but the game also gives you two SSR players of your choice if you can collect the Rookie Goals points. It is a 14-day challenge, and you need to complete micro missions to receive points. I recommend this as one of the most important things to complete in the early game.
4. Make sure to claim the freebies

This is for starters, and these freebies will come in a lot of help. For example, your starter team will need a morale boost along with training sessions to set up momentum, and also, the higher the individual stats, the more you get an upper hand. Claim everything from your Mail, event page, starter’s path, and victorious control tower, etc.
5. Keep Leveling up your players

I already mentioned that you can see the strength of your opponent before starting a match. To counter the opponents, you need to level up your squad. It will let you know if you’re about to put up a tough fight against the opponent team. Make sure that you level up based on the positions of each player.
Final Thoughts
The game will take up your time, and you should be ready to sacrifice other games if you play this one. The graphics work and skill animations are great. It will provide you with the same feeling as the anime did. You will feel the blood running through your veins, and the tense and hyped moments will also touch you closely.
As I have shared several game basics to let you know what triggers what, I think this will help you a lot in terms of starting with the game. Let us know if you need more guides on this. Block, Smash, Repeat!
