How to unlock Birdwatching in Heartopia
Birdwatching takes a little bit of playing to unlock, which means players have to play for a couple of hours first. Long story short, Heartopia introduces Birdwatching as part of the Developer Level 6 hobby quest.
Once you reach Developer Level 6, players can visit Bailey J, who can be found upstairs inside the pet store. During this visit, Bailey J explains how Birdwatching works and why it matters. Afterward, Bailey J invites you to return once you have spoken to the other Hobby Mentors.

At this stage, the game asks you to choose which hobby you want to unlock next. So, Birdwatching can be selected as your third and final tutorial hobby. Once you speak to all three mentors, return to Bailey J with a Hobby Expansion Ticket.
Handing over the ticket permanently unlocks Birdwatching. However, if you choose a different hobby instead, you must wait until you earn another Hobby Expansion Ticket to unlock Birdwatching later.
How to Birdwatch in Heartopia
Birdwatching in Heartopia is very simple and straightforward. While it requires awareness and timing, it never feels stressful or demanding. Instead, it lets players slow down and calmly observe their environment.

Below is how to begin Birdwatching in Heartopia:
- First, equip your camera from your toolbox.
- After that, approach any bird and open your camera.
- Make sure to keep your distance, or the bird may fly away.
- Next, take a picture of the bird.
That is all you need to do. Once the photo registers successfully, the bird is added to your collection. However, location, weather, and time of day all matter. Some birds appear everywhere, while others only show up under very specific conditions. Because of this, knowing where to look is essential.
