Every field, forest, shoreline, and village hides fluttering wings or rustling leaves, and once you notice them, it becomes impossible to stop hunting.

This Heartopia Insect Catching Guide covers everything you need to know about catching insects, so let’s dive in. How to unlock Insect Catching in Heartopia

Before you can chase butterflies or sneak up on beetles, you need to unlock the Insect Catching Hobby. Like Birdwatching and other late hobbies, insect catching becomes available after progressing through the early stages of the game.

As you reach Developer Level 6, Heartopia gives you the option of picking a new hobby. At this stage, you receive a Hobby Expansion Ticket, which allows you to permanently unlock one of the available hobbies. However, before choosing, the game asks you to meet each Hobby Mentor.

To unlock insect catching, you must visit Naniwa, who lives near the river in their garden. During your first visit, Naniwa explains the basics of insect catching, why bugs matter, and how this hobby fits into Heartopia’s relaxed lifestyle.

After speaking with all three Hobby Mentors, you can return to Naniwa and hand over your Hobby Expansion Ticket. Doing so permanently unlocks Insect Catching. However, if you choose another hobby instead, you must wait until you earn another ticket to unlock insect catching later. Once unlocked, Naniwa gifts you a bubble net, officially marking the start of your insect-catching journey.
