Jetpack Joyride Racing Beginners Guide and Tips

Wroom you go!

The Jetpack Joyride universe gets its newest entry in Jetpack Joyride Racing, and the expectations are indeed high. The latest multiplayer racing title from Halfbrick Studios brings a fast-paced arcade racing experience where drifting, boosting, and positioning are part of your victory routine every race.

With short races and real-time opponents, it’s easy to get into, but mastering it takes time, and it doesn’t guarantee a win every time. The stakes are quite nice. So to help you into the simple basics of this game, I have this Jetpack Joyride Racing Beginners Guide, with some pretty important tips.

Jetpack Joyride Racing Gameplay Overview and Basics

Gameplay explained

As I mentioned earlier, gameplay in Jetpack Joyride Racing is very simple. The game focuses on quick multiplayer races where up to six players compete in real time. The controls are simple, with the mechanics revolving around drifting, boosting, and maintaining speed throughout the track for all laps.

The tutorial is pretty much everything you need to know. Usually, the matches are two laps long, and multiple maps will pop up. I’ve noticed that once a match is completed, it starts again, so unless you exit the settings menu, it will continue playing.

Controls and tracks

Each race takes place on dynamic tracks filled with different types of zones that can either help or hinder your performance. Understanding these zones is important if you want to stay competitive. You just focus on tap mechanics to move your Joyride.

There are three main zones you need to remember: Charge Zones, Slow Zones, and Cutout Zones. As the name suggests, only the first zone is a boost provider.

Charge Zones give you a burst of speed and help build your special ability, making them the most important zones to aim for. Slow Zones reduce your speed significantly, while Cutout Zones can briefly disable your control, making them dangerous if you’re not careful.

Progression

Progression in Jetpack Joyride Racing is tied to collecting cards, unlocking rewards, and progressing through the Season Pass. You need to have the Halfbrick+ app for upgrading the rarities of your items and using tokens, since there is no direct in-game currency system here.

Yes, there are tokens, but they are spent on the shop tab in the app. Cards are mainly earned through free daily packs, Season Pass rewards, and the shop in the Halfbrick+ hub, and once collected, they can be forged into cosmetics like drivers, trails, and other items.

Jetpack Joyride Racing Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks to Remember

Here are some simple tips you can follow during your beginner phase of the game.

1. Move along the corners to boost

Corners are where you gain or lose races. A proper racing line helps you maintain momentum throughout the race.

Following the blue racing line while drifting gives you a speed boost, so avoid staying in the middle of the track, and whenever you are going for a turn, take it close to the wide line, so that you get a bigger boost.

2. Use boost the right way

Boost management is important. If you activate your boost while passing through Charge Zones, you won’t collect the charge properly. It’s better to collect first and then use the boost to maximize speed.

3. Block opponents to maintain position

Blocking is a very effective tactic that I’ve found success in. When opponents try to pass, positioning your kart to block them can slow them down, helping you keep your position, while also giving you a slight push forward. This comes in handy whenever they are on a boost.

4. Be careful around Cutout and Slow Zones

These zones can easily ruin your race if you’re not paying attention. Slow Zones reduce your speed, while Cutout Zones can make you lose control briefly, so avoiding them is just as important as hitting Charge Zones.

5. Push the battle pass for rewards

The Season Pass has some really good rewards at the Halfbrick+ app, including cards and cosmetics, so visually, the race will be appealing. Playing regularly and completing races helps you climb faster and unlock these items early.
