LUDUS Overview
Let’s start with the gameplay overview to help you get a clear idea of how it works. So, LUDUS is nothing like a traditional card title, as it begins right before combat where you need to select heroes for your deck and position them on the battlefield. You go up against a random opponent, and both of you have 5 lives, with the match lasting up to 9 rounds.

You begin the round with 16 coins that can be used to summon random heroes from your decks, with each costing 3 coins. Your goal is to build a 5-hero deck that can give you a upper hand. Do note that both your summoned unit and its positions on the field are totally random.
Coming to the battlefield, it separates both you and your opponent into two areas, with some tiles having rocks filled with coins. You can merge your heroes to destroy the rocks and collect them. And once you’re done placing and merging the heroes, you can enjoy auto battles, though the losing team loses a life at the end of each round. And the loop continues until one loses all lives.
Introducing the Basics of LUDUS
Heroes
So, you’ll find over 100 heroes in LUDUS, each with their own unique abilities and buff pattern. Here, your hero’s base level is the permanent level of a hero card, enhanced outside the battle. They’re further divided into the following three main categories:

- Tanks/Melees: These are basically your frontline heroes, like Tech Golem and Treant, that can take damage and also hold the frontline, obviously.
- DPS/Attackers: Like most games, heroes with this role like Gunslinger and Monkey King deal the highest damage here too.
- Support: Heroes like Paladin and Valkyrie, that cant provide buffs or apply crowd control falls under this category.
Mechanics
Only knowing about the heroes won’t do, as you also need to master the hero merge mechanic. Just so you know, the game also allows to merge heroes of same type and merge level, though merging makes them more effective with increased power. And here’s what happen at different merge levels.
- At lv3, your heroes get a special ability, which can be anything from damage reduction to regeneration.
- And at lv5, they unlock an ultimate ability by attaining the Star Rank. The only challenging part is your hero’s base level should be at least 20 to reach it.
PvP battles
As might have got it by now, PvP battles are actually the core element of LUDUS. Morevover, you can even move towards to Divisions after clearing all Arenas, off course. Thanks to this, you can take part in

- Tournaments
- Clan battles
- Limited-time events
- Quests
LUDUS Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks
1. Try to build a balanced team
Your main focus should be to build a balanced team of 5 solid heroes instead of just having damage dealers. I suggest 2 Tanks, 2 Attackers, and 1 Support unit for maximum winning potential. Since, the battles are quite random, having a balanced lineup like this is helpful.
2. Prioritize level 3 merges

In this game, getting your heroes to merge level 3 should your early goal as each hero has a unique merge effect and this also helps you enhance their overall impact during matches and actually win.
3. Always spend your summoning coins
You should make sure to always use up all the available summon coins before each round starts. It doesn’t matter even if you summon weaker heroes, as anything is better than leaving the slots empty. And, also sell any unused heroes that can’t be merged to gain more coins.
4. Complete all the quests regularly
In LUDUS, the Daily, Seasonal, and Career Quests are one of the easiest ways for you to farm resources. So, I suggest you to complete them whenever you get time to progress more efficiently.
5. You should balance summoning and merging
Here, you need to think smartly and don’t just go on spamming summons without having a clead idea. You need to maintain enough unit space on the field while also focusing on increasing their strengths of course. That said, you can always sell unwanted units to summon more.
6. Upgrade only your main heroes
While the game has a solid variety of heroes, you should only focus your resources on upgrading a few heroes that is actually in your lineup. Wasting resources won’t be fruitful in the long run. Now, to upgrade heroes, simpy tap on the Cards tab in PvP mode and select the heroes and upgrade them.
Final Thoughts
So, LUDUS is a really fun title, especially if you’re into strategy titles and like planning ahead and try diverse builds to win matches. That said, it can get challenging really quick as you climb through the Arenas and face better enemies. But don’t worry as our beginner guide should help you to progress smoothly. Happy Gaming!
