SQUARE ENIX Co., Ltd. released an HD remaster of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System’s (SNES) all-time action classic ActRaiser. The HD remaster is titled ActRaiser Renaissance which has received a release on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. This is not the first entry of ActRaiser to mobile devices as a version of it was released for European mobile phones in 2004. The game claimed that the new scenarios amount to more than twice the story present in the original.
Gameplay Overview
This classic has an interesting plot behind it. The protagonist plays the role of the Lord of Light and their loyal angel to help humanity grow again as it is under the control of the evil gods. But fighting evil is not the only duty as players have to rebuild the civilization that got taken over by the evil. Players can use miraculous powers to summon lightning and create earthquakes to remove obstacles.
ActRaiser Renaissance: Features of the new release
Now, the game has remastered 2D graphics. New story, levels, expanded action and realm management gameplay, powerful bosses, and a real-time strategy battle feature called Settlement Siege. Besides, 15 new music tracks were rearranged by Yuzo Koshiro, the original ActRaiser composer.
Furthermore, it has an auto-save option, and a new ability to dodge which was not available in the original game. A dynamic action experience can be enjoyed with upward and downward motions attacks.
ActRaiser is a classic 2D action platformer and city-building simulation game that was initially released in 1990. The remastered title has been updated with HD visuals, new stages, and boss battles, and rearranged music by Yuzo Koshiro. The game costs $19.99 on iOS and Android. No further in-game purchases are needed after buying the game.
