Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), India’s version of the popular Battle Royale game, PUBG Mobile was released earlier this marking a return post ban on several apps from Chinese developers for data privacy concerns. Published by Krafton, BGMI regained its glory but gamers have been complaining of encountering hackers for a long time. Even Kraftons, newly released PUBG: New State has found it hard to keep hackers in check even after implementing various anti-check systems. Following this, BGMI has enforced strict measures for hackers and announced a permanent device ban if a player is found cheating in-game.
Cheating getting out of hand post Patch 1.6
The situation never got better and it spiraled out of control post Patch 1.6. Fans, content creators, and esports athletes called for strict measures to curb their issue, and Krafton responded with multiple sanctions against players using illegitimate software, but much to developers’ dismay, the cheaters still found ways to enter the game and disrupt the game flow.

To make the gaming experience better, Krafton has decided to take the stern action of banning devices wherein devices where evidence of using third-party software for gaining unfair advantage are found. The same was done in the Tencent-published global version of PUBG Mobile. Effective from December 24, the move is aimed at eradicating hackers as it will serve as a deterrent to cheaters who earlier got away with just account bans and later created new accounts to enter the game again.
How BGMI account bans will be handled on a device
The newly applied security measure will automatically detect and will issue the ban on the device. The ban on devices will be permanent and under no condition will the ban be lifted, account can be gained back if players want to access it on another device with normal working and no external files. While details of how Krafton will enforce the newly announced measure, it is expected that the developers will make use of device ID or IP address.
Krafton has been actively been working on eliminating users and has reiterated that they are against any malicious and unfair practice that negatively affects the game, and will keep working on improving the players’ experience. On December 20, Krafton announced the banning of more than 99,000 accounts over a period of six days.
