Bilibili is Southeast Asia’s leading anime, comics, and games community where people can create, watch and share videos. It was founded in June 2009. The gaming companies under this group have published a lot of fantastic games like Azur Lane, Fate, Grand Order, etc. In the first week of November, Bilibili released an internal email to inform about the changes made to their games business.
Bilibili brings changes to strengthen its games department
Chen Rui, CEO of Bilibili, took over the reporting line of the game department. The email explained two main adjustments that need to be made in order to strengthen the game department and implement Bilibili’s business strategy. The email stated this:
The reporting line of the Game Publishing Department, Game Cooperation Department, Game Community Department, Aikesaisi Game Studio, Chenxing Game Studio, Shizhisha Game Studio, and Game Innovation Product Department has been adjusted from the Senior Vice President Zhangfeng to the CEO Chen Rui. Zhangfeng, Senior Vice President of the Company, will be transferred to another business of the company.
According to the officials, the changes will be brought into effect immediately. Bilibili recently released its 2022 Q3 financial report. The announcement showed that its third-quarter revenue was over $800 million, an increase of 11% YoY; the net loss was $240 million CNY, narrowing 36% compared to $384 million.
After taking over the game business, CEO Chen Rui responded for the first time in the conference call, by saying: The reason I am personally responsible for the game business is, in fact, not a change in the strategy and objectives of Bilibili’s game business, but an emphasis on its priority of Bilibili as a company. I will be rooting for the value of ‘self-researched high-quality games to the world – this is exactly what I will do after I take over the game business.
