Players just need to clear the main story of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night with the Good Ending and download the DLC to start a new adventure with Zangetsu. After Zangetsu is selected as the protagonist, he starts the game with his own exclusive items, the Zangetsuto, and will be able to Double Jump from the very start of the game.

Zangetsu’s signature skill, chain hook, can be fired in a specified direction. It deals damage to enemies and pulls Zangetsu to parts of the terrain it makes contact with. At the same time, Zangetsu can change the attributes of his weapons. Weapon attacks and throwing Kunai produce different damage effects based on his current attribute. Players can change weapon attributes by tapping the sliding weapon wheel. Zangetsu can use the Fierce Slash controls to trigger Wild God’s Blade. Moreover, he can trigger the Empty Blade by using Up with Backstep.

Zangetsu Mode Scenes and UI Changes

In Zangetsu Mode, all NPCs and new scenes will be hidden. However, all treasure chests will be removed. All process animations will be skipped, and gates that could only be opened with Directional Shards previously will be opened by default. At the same time, enemies will no longer drop shards, items, or gold. As Zangetsu does not use other systems, the character’s attributes and skill prompts will be displayed directly in the main menu.
