- Season 70 brings a new Champion card and Evolution, alongside a refreshed Pass Royale.
- Boss Bandit is here with a strong dash and teleport ability.
- Executioner gets a new Axe Smash ability that deals extra damage and pushes enemies back.
As I write this Clash Royale Season 70 ‘Tale of Thieves’ April 2025 Update details, you can notice a few changes since several changes are coming with this new season in the game. The Season Shop has disappeared, the Pass Royale gets more levels, and the events section is somewhat dry.
Still, a new season is always exciting. What makes this feel good is the new Champion’s arrival, a solid Evolution, and of course, the events. So let me give you the complete overview of what has arrived with Season 70 in Clash Royale.
Clash Royale Season 70 April 2025 Update Overview
New Champion: Boss Bandit
This was teased way back in the March 2025 update, but after all the build-up, the Boss Bandit has finally shown up, well, sort of. Turns out that it’s not storming into the game; it’s sneaking into the shop with a “paid and premium” price tag slapped on. Well, we’re moving.
Arriving as the 8th Champion in the game, Boss Bandit got a dash like the regular Bandit alongside a special ability called the Getaway Grenade that only kicks in when her HP gets low. This makes her briefly invisible and helps her teleport back to the old position.
Now here’s the crazy part: she costs 6 elixir, which makes her the most expensive Champion so far. Her health is up there, too, with over 2800 HP, so she’s tanky. I also saw a gameplay video where she didn’t get destroyed even after the use of Rocket and Lightning, so she is indeed a solid card.
New Evolution: Executioner
Now, on to Executioner Evolution. He’s the only evolution for this season and the fourth overall this year. The stats of the normal Executioner stay the same, but what changes is his Axe Smash ability. This kicks in only when he hits enemies at close range within 3.5 tiles.
When that happens, his axe deals double damage and also pushes enemies back by 2 tiles, which is just slightly more than what a Rocket or Giant Snowball does. However, the ability activates on the axe’s way out only, not on the return. You only need one cycle to evolve him.
Free and Diamond Pass Royale details
The changes after removing the seasonal shop have been reflected in the Pass Royale as well. There are changes in the free and paid rewards, which I list in the table below.

You can notice that the tier count has increased from 60 to 90 in total. There are quite a few changes. Most notably, we now only get two Evolution Shards, which feels like a huge loss, especially since the old Evolution Shards are no longer available in the Season Shop.
The rest of the rewards are pretty standard, similar to what we’ve received before. The Diamond Pass doesn’t seem like a major upgrade overall, apart from pay-to-win players gaining access to Evolution Shards.
As usual, we have one new Tower Skin that has been officially confirmed for the Pass Royale with this update. Royal Delivery Tower Skin is unlocked once you have reached Tier 90 of the Premium Tier in the Pass Royale, which was usually in Tier 56 before the March update.
