- Doki Doki Literature Club removed from Google Play Store over sensitive content concerns.
- Devs are actively working to bring the game back to Android.
- The team is also exploring alternative distribution options if reinstatement takes time.
Serenity Forge has revealed that their beloved psychological horror adventure, Doki Doki Literature Club, has been removed from the Google Play Store, catching the community off guard. Developed by Team Salvato, the game was ported to mobile in December 2025, and the team is now trying to reinstate it.
Devs highlight the game’s meaningful impact amid Google’s removal
According to the team’s statement, Google removed DDLC, citing violations of its Terms of Service related to the depiction of sensitive content. I guess the platform took issue with certain themes showcased within the experience, but this move feels both understandable and frustrating, given how DDLC pushes narrative boundaries.
Despite the situation, DDLC has long been praised for how it handles mental topics in a way that resonates with the community worldwide. I agree with the creator that many felt “heard, understood, and less alone on their journey.” So, this removal feels really unjust to me and other fans.
On the statement, the devs emphasized how meaningful it has been to see the game create real connections through storytelling. And for the creator, Dan Salvato, that impact continues to inspire future projects aimed to “reach others, especially those in need of connection.“
The team is working toward Google Play reinstatement while considering alternative options
You can still experience DDLC on several major platforms, including iOS and consoles. And don’t worry, as the team is actively working to reinstate the game on the Google Play Store. Plus, they’re also considering other ways to bring DDLC back to us, Android users, if this fails or takes more time.
I hope things work out well, as I can see the devs really trying their best, and they’ve even shared their appreciation for the solid “love and enthusiasm from passionate Android users over the past few months.” Anyways, stay tuned for more updates regarding this situation.
