Looks like KONAMI’s eFootball 2025 is stepping up its game once again with the arrival of the v4.4.0 update. Here, you can expect a more polished experience with improvements to gameplay, player development, and more, which I will discuss in this space.
eFootball 2025 v4.4.0 update: All updates and features discussed
AI Mode comes to eFootball League
One of the biggest additions is a brand-new AI mode in the eFootball League. Now, you can test your skills against AI teams instead of jumping straight into PvP. These AI teams aren’t pushovers either, they are Dream Teams from other players and actual user squads.

This will get tougher as you move up the ranks. As a whole, you can relate this to the Campaign mode we had previously in the PES series of games. An interesting addition indeed. Players who want to stay away from PvP, well, you have this option.
More control over Player Management
Team management is getting a much-needed upgrade. You can now store up to 500 extra players using a new Backup Player Slot system. These players won’t count toward your main roster and can’t be used in matches until you move them over to the main slots. You cannot train them either here.

Also, the process of cleaning up your squad just got easier. With the new update, you can now mass release players right after acquiring new ones. Previously, we could just click on the player and then release from there.
Targeted Skill Training arrives
One of the major changes we have this time is, Advanced Skill Training is being introduced. Instead of unlocking skills at random, you can now choose from specific categories like passing, dribbling, defending, or shooting. So no more of your strikers getting GK Low Punt.

This system increases the chances of getting the skills you want, giving you more control over how your players develop. These can be acquired from playing the eFootball League and Events. Also, you can now delete skills from a player.
850 Million Downloads Campaign
A campaign is also coming alongside the update,, dubbed as the 850 Million Downloads Campaign. Running from April 17 to May 8, 2025, you can earn a mix of exciting rewards through campaign objectives and special events.

Up to 30 Random Rewards across Tour (18) and Challenge Events (12) can be earned, although it hasn’t been announced yet. A special 850M Downloads Badge featuring MSN is also in the mix. Other than that, a eFootball Impulse in-game kit, in-game resources, and GP are announced.
Antenna Display in Online Games
The latest update adds a new antenna icon that appears during online PvP matches using the client-server system. This icon shows the real-time quality of your connection to the game server. Since it reflects each player’s connection, the icon may look different on each screen.

After the match, a graph will appear showing how your connection changed over time. The x-axis shows how much time has passed during the match, while the y-axis shows how stable your connection was. A higher graph means the connection was stable, and if low or uneven, it means otherwise.
Other improvements
Several other improvements have been added to the game:
- Screenshot all your squad in a single frame, including substitutes.
- Passing gets more emphasis, now ball movement will depend on how high the passing numbers are. Higher numbers result in quicker passes and more accurate ones.
- AI defending has also been tweaked.
