Free Fire: 5 young boys lured and kidnapped by Mexican Cartel through the game

Lucky enough to be rescued, reunited with family.

5 young boys aged 12-15 were convinced to leave their homes and join the Mexican Cartel by a Tamaulipas-based Northeast Cartel through a WhatsApp group related to the popular mobile Battle Royale game Free Fire and kidnapping scene planned by the Mexican Cartel last Saturday. According to Mexico News Daily, the boys were residents of Oaxaca City in Mexico and were offered lucrative employment related to their interest in firearms. One of the minors who was kidnapped even left his parents a note, telling them not to worry since he had managed to secure a job and would send home money.

A kidnapping scene smoothly executed through Free Fire

After leaving their homes, they were forced to board a vehicle at the Tlacolula de Matamoros road junction, 30 kilometers away from Oaxaca. Soon after their disappearance, their parents filed complaints with the Attorney General’s Office and took to social media to request help with finding their children.

The State Investigation Agency took swift action and managed to track down the kidnapped children through their cell phone signals to a safe house where they were being held captive.

Quick action taken from the parents

One of the children’s parents quickly alerted the police after they came across a letter left behind by their son, claiming he was setting off on an 800-mile journey to Monterrey, Nuevo León, and would be sending a lot of money back home.

A sign of relief for the families

All 5 boys were reunited with their families, and a 19-year-old woman involved in the Free Fire related kidnapping scene who tried to lie to the police was arrested. Had the children not been rescued, they would have been forced and trained to work as foot soldiers for the Cartel, a very unfortunate ending.

While these kids were lucky enough to be rescued, Cartels and other people with bad intentions like sexual predators have taken to online games to prey on younger kids and many can’t be rescued despite the best efforts from authorities.
