Garena has just revealed the 2026 Esports Roadmap for their massively popular battle royale title, Free Fire. From this year onwards, they’ve done major changes to global events, expanding from 18 to 24 teams while also introducing a dedicated Clash Squad event, two major international events, and more.
Two major international events anchor Free Fire’s competitive esports calendar
So, the 2026 Free Fire esports season is built around two headline international events, with Free Fire at 2026 Esports World Cup and Free Fire World Series (FFWS) Global Finals. On top of this, FFWS Southeast Asia remains the backbone of regional competition, being the region’s premier competition.

Now, one of the biggest changes this year is the expansion of the FFWS Global Finals to 24 teams, giving more regions a chance at the world stage. Plus, the Global Finals will be held in Bangkok, running across four weekends starting from early November 6, 2026.
Free Fire makes its return to the Esports World Cup with higher stakes
Interestingly, they’re also set to return to the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, where 24 teams like the 2025 Esports World Cup Champion, EVOS Esports will compete from July 15 to 16. So, here is the lineup of teams as of now, and additional slots will be disclosed in the coming future:

- Southeast Asia: 8 Teams
- Brazil: 3 Teams
- Latin America: 2 Teams
- Bangladesh: 2 Teams
- United States, Pakistan, Nepal, and the Middle East and Africa (MEA): 1 Team each.
So, the best part about this event is that the winner earns direct ticket to the FFWS Global Finals.
