NextNinja has announced their latest adventure RPG, Gakuen Bungo Stray Dogs, which was set to launch on both Android and iOS on November 6 in Japan, but has now been postponed. Based on the fan-favorite anime series, the game was initially planned for the first half of this year, and there are no details on a global launch yet.
Relive school life with your favorite BSD characters
Gakuen Bungo Stray Dogs is a youth adventure RPG where characters inspired by famous authors like Nakajima Atsushi, Dazai Osamu, Oda Sakunosuke, and Akutagawa Ryunosuke come to life in a vibrant school setting. Unlike the series, you’ll get to experience their daily school life up close.
The game is based on the beloved manga/anime series Bungo Stray Dogs (BSD), letting you meet familiar faces as students and teachers in this new setting. For anyone new to the series, it was created by Kafka Asagiri, with each character named after literary figures and their powers tied to their books.
Players can engage in strategic battles and uncover secrets
As an anime nerd, I didn’t think I’d be playing a BSD-based mobile title, but I’m all for it. The story starts with you meeting Nakajima Atsushi, leading to a mysterious adventure after being drawn into an off-limits building by a black cat. From there, you enter the Underworld, a strange world that twists reality, where your extraordinary life begins.
You can enjoy the main story featuring over 20 unique characters while uncovering the school’s secrets as part of the Twilight Investigation Club. You can also engage in strategic battles with auto mode, which looks fun. Overall, the game looks promising with mini-games, cute chibi art, voice acting, original illustrations, and more.
Gakuen Bungo Stray Dogs has postponed its launch on both Android and iOS from November 6, 2025, in Japan. You can now pre-register for this game via your respective Google Play Store or App Store. The team will provide further details on the new release date in the future.
