Gameloft’s Asphalt Xtreme joins Netflix Games catalog under new licensing

Currently available in Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and Poland for Netflix members only

Asphalt Xtreme, a racing game from the popular Asphalt series, is now available on Netflix Gaming in selected regions. Although Gameloft has rights over the Asphalt IP, the publishing rights have been signed over to Netflix Inc for this particular title in the series, confirmed by Gameloft to GamingonPhone over an email.

The game is a classic racing experience with 4×4 trucks, free for all racing, multiple maps, and more. Along with all that, there are no ads or in-app purchases either. All players need to do is purchase a Netflix membership plan.

Asphalt Xtreme is still in early stages of development for Netflix

GamingonPhone reached out to Gameloft for more information, and it was revealed that the game is still in its early testing stages and awaiting global rollout. The game will also be heading to India in the next few weeks, so it’s likely that India is the next region getting access to Netflix’s gaming service.

Now fans of the Asphalt games who do not have access to Netflix will be disappointed, and it seems unlikely that the game will be available outside of Netflix’s membership.

The Google Play page for the game is up, and you can download the other games that are a part of the Netflix gaming lineup, you cannot play the games until the game detects a login from an email ID that is linked to your Netflix membership account.

Currently, the games are available for Netflix members in Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, and Poland, the five regions where Netflix gaming is available, but it’ll be heading out to other regions (including India) around the globe soon.

For those who don’t know, Netflix has been testing out its own gaming service in which players can get access to ad and IAP-free games without any extra costs aside from the Netflix membership fees. So far, the service is only available in select regions with a handful of available games, but Netflix is quickly covering more ground.
