- Genshin Impact will update its system requirements with the Song of the Welkin Moon version.
- Due to hardware and platform limits, the game will also end support for PS4 in future versions.
- Genshin Impact will keep running smoothly on PS5, while PS4 support will end in three planned phases.
HoYoverse has announced a few changes for Genshin Impact, including an update in system requirements and the discontinuation of support for the PlayStation 4. These changes will take effect starting with the Song of the Welkin Moon version update.
Genshin Impact raises system requirements to enhance its performance
To deliver you a smoother gameplay experience in future versions, Genshin Impact will raise both its minimum and recommended device specifications. While you can still launch the game on lower-spec devices, you may encounter issues such as frame drops, crashes, or instability during gameplay.
This specific update is designed to optimise the game’s long-term performance as it continues to grow, and is something fans have been requesting. You can check out the updated minimum and recommended system specifications, including Android, iOS, and PC, on HoYoverse’s official website.
HoYoverse outlines PS4 discontinuation schedule starting this September
Aside from that, the game is also ending support for PS4 in three stages, starting with its removal on PS4 from the PlayStation Store on September 10, 2025. If you’ve already downloaded the game, you can re-download it from the library, but new downloads will no longer be available.
On top of that, in-game purchases will be delisted on February 25, 2026, followed by full update discontinuation on April 8, 2026. So, after April, you won’t be able to log in or receive updates on PS4, though your progress can continue on PS5 or other supported platforms.
You can look forward to a login binding prompt from December 17, 2025, which will allow you to link your accounts to other platforms. Although HoYoverse recommends making the transition soon, many fans are not happy with this decision, some even complaining how it’s on mobile “if it can’t be on PS4.”
