HoYoverse may be entering the MOBA genre, job posting reveals 3D UE5 project

Excited for a HoYoverse-based MOBA title?

HoYoverse, the studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai titles, has now opened job listings for a new 3D MOBA title built on Unreal Engine 5. If the listings are anything we should go by, this could be miHoYo’s boldest genre shift yet.

Is HoYoverse ready for the MOBA world?

So, recent job posting updates confirm that the studio is developing a UE5-powered multiplayer project described as a cool 3D MOBA. Moreover, we can expect the title to include PvP, PvE, and co-op gameplay, so a full-scale competitive team-based experience is possible.

If true, I support them transitioning from their traditional RPG format, like how MOONTON Games experimented with Silver and Blood, ACECRAFT, and more, and saw success. And I also think with the studio’s production quality, a solid MOBA will instantly work, especially if they add characters from their titles.

Technical requirements hints at serious esports plans

Now, the technical requirements listed is intriguing too, as they’re looking for expertise in Unreal Engine Gameplay Framework, ECS systems, replay systems, competitive game automation, and more. Considering how well MOBA-based esports is running, I believe they’re already focusing on esports.

That said, the competition is really high in the MOBA market right now, with Honor of Kings dominating China market, MLBB ruling the global one, and League of Legends: Wildrift and Pokemon UNITE trying to get a spot. And considering, miHoYO never had a competitive title before, it can be bit risky but the fanbase, art style, and technical resources can prove otherwise.
