InnoGames celebrates the 20th anniversary of its hit game, Tribal Wars

Tribal Wars is 20 years strong!

Twenty years later, Tribal Wars (German: “Die Stämme”) is a beloved strategy classic with 48+ million days of cumulative played and 180+ million Euros in cumulative revenue and is celebrating its 20th anniversary. It is also still going strong thanks to its 100,000+ active users, 46% of whom have been playing it for five years or more.

Those who have long since switched to other games still like sharing their experiences through storytelling. Of fabled tribal wars and bloody combat, but also of get-togethers, friendships, and even marriages in “real” life, which would not have been possible without their shared zeal. Because of this, the theme of the game’s 20th anniversary this year is Love for the tribe never fades.

Hendrik Klindworth, CEO and co-founder of InnoGames, talking about the anniversary said, “Tribal Wars might not be a thing today for InnoGames. If it did, the business would presumably look very different. The future of InnoGames is being built by many employees who joined us throughout the game throughout the years or who have even been with us from the beginning.”

He further stated, “In 2003, this was beyond our wildest expectations, yet things turned out even better than we could have imagined. We want players to be able to continue playing Tribal Wars for a very long time. To achieve this, we will keep helping the Tribal Wars team improve the game daily. We truly thank everyone who has contributed to making Tribal Wars what it is today.”

However, for those who were involved in its development, working on Tribal Wars was, is, and will remain something extremely unique.
