KRAFTON India opens Structured Player Transfer Window for BGMI Esports Teams

A major step for Indian Esports!

Story Highlights
  • The structured player transfer window is a major step towards professionalizing the esports scene of BGMI.
  • The window will open till the 15th of November and teams have to move their roster within this period.
  • It will allow KRAFTON to oversee everything that's happening in the Indian esports premise.

KRAFTON India has launched a major initiative to revamp the esports ecosystem of the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) scene. KRAFTON has termed it “structured player transfer window,” which will regulate how players join and transfer between Esports Clubs in the BGMI ecosystem.

The first transfer window is already in progress, opened on the 1st of October, and will close on the 15th of November. So, organizations are getting about one and a half months to reorganize their teams.

BGMI Structured Player Transfer Window is a major step to professionalize esports in India

If the system or initiative sounds familiar, you’ve known it for years from traditional sports. Structured Player Transfer Window for BGMI will set a defined period for the teams to make roster changes. It will impact the game’s esports scene positively because the teams will be under direct supervision of the organizing authority, i.e., the company itself.

The structured transfer window will also ensure transfers are conducted transparently, fairly, and in line with tournament regulations. So, it is indeed a major step in a professional sense that the initiative will remain stable, transparent, accountable, and strategic.

KRAFTON India will regulate the roster movement and transfer system

The system sets a few rules, putting KRAFTON India in a position to regulate the roster movement and transfer system. Each registered club will operate under a verified owner or In-Game Leader (IGL) who will manage player movement approvals. The rules are going to be these:

  • Registered transfers can take place only during the official transfer windows
  • Free agents (unaffiliated players) can join Clubs at any time
  • Every transaction is logged, verified, and tracked to maintain transparency

Looking further, the clubs will be able to set up and manage their rosters directly through the KIE (KRAFTON India Esports) dashboard. To do so, clubs should follow these steps:

  • Log in using registered credentials.
  • Go to the “My Teams” section.
  • Invite or remove players or accept join requests.
  • Submit your roster for verification.

Once a team completes the process, it can participate in upcoming official and sanctioned third-party tournaments on the KRAFTON India Esports platform. However, a few things like the salary of players, duration of a contract, and code of conduct are still to be set. It is unclear how teams and KRAFTON will synchronize these things, or if the transfer system is only to notify KRAFTON which player is under which team.

With the Player Transfer Window, we’re taking a significant step toward professionalizing esports operations in India,”

Karan Pathak, Associate Director – Esports, KRAFTON India

Whatever the scenario, this will surely put each team and the publisher in a position to improve and compete in the ecosystem, and it will also ensure that no teams get any undue advantages.
