Riot Games has announced the first update of League of Legends: Wild Rift in 2021. The Patch 2.0 update focuses primarily on the additional features, matchmaking, and gameplay improvements. Additionally, there will be new events, five new heroes, and the arrival of the first official ranked season of LoL Wild Rift with this update. New Features in League of Legends: Wild Rift Patch 2.0 update

Party Finder

This feature will allow the players to create their own team before starting a game. Party owners can make their lobbies public by clicking the option on the top right corner of the lobby screen. Players can even find their desired type of lobby by filtering their search.

Latency Indicator

A New latency indicator has been included which can be seen in game too. The indicator displays ping along with the type of network the player is using. Earlier, this was on the homepage of the game. But due to accuracy issues, Riot has replaced it with a network indicator to show what kind of network you’re on (WiFi, 4G, etc.).

Map Description

To make the players familiar with the lay of the land, a new map description feature has been added in the game. Players can get all the information like map structure, jungler monster, epic monsters, etc.

Tutorial Optimization

Based on the player’s gameplay, performance improving tutorials will now be prompted to the players.

Champion Mastery Emotes

Champion’s Mastery Emotes will now available. After reaching the mastery level of 5, the Emotes will be unlocked. They can then equip and use it like any other in-game emote to “communicate.”

Social sharing allows the players to save the end-of-game scoreboard, end-of-game personal performance, career most played champ, season rank, win streak, new champ acquired, new skin acquired, and leaderboard screens to their device camera roll or share right to Facebook.

The new Ranked Season 1 starts in League of Legends: Wild Rift

The first official ranked season of Wild Rift starts on January 8th, 2021. This also means Season 0 ends on that day. Players who participated in Season 0 will receive ranked rewards after the season ends. There will be a rank reset for Season 1.

New Events

A host of events will be arriving in the game in this Patch 2.0 update. Yordle expectations is going to be the newest event that the game will see where all of the new heroes are going to be a part of it.


In-Game Optimizations in League of Legends: Wild Rift Patch 2.0 update

  • Ping Replies: Players can now let their teammates know the response with ping replies.
  • Dragon/Baron Respawn Time: Spawn timers for epic monsters (Dragon and Baron Nashor) will now be displayed on the scoreboard.
  • Scoreboard Logic: Enemy information on the scoreboard now updates only after players gain a vision of enemies instead of in constant real-time.
  • System Message UI: System messages will now no longer block players’ view of their own champion during the gameplay.
  • Tower Prioritization: Towers will now prioritize in targeting the super minions over siege minions.
  • Detailed Stats: In the stats tab of the scoreboard, players will now see a more detailed breakdown of key stats, which includes the amount of damage reduction (in percentage) provided in their armor and magic resistance items, as well as the conversion from ability haste to cooldown reduction.
  • New Emote Wheels: The emotes wheel can now be opened by holding down on their Champion instead of clicking into the communications panel.
  • Improved Matchmaking System: The matchmaking system has been tuned to give much better game quality and ranked experience.
  • Leaderboard Updates: The leaderboard will now be updated every 10-15 minutes instead of 24 hours, which was previously done.
