Logitech G and Tencent Games announced a partnership today to bring a cloud gaming handheld to market later this year, combining Logitech G’s hardware expertise with Tencent Games’ software services expertise. The new device will support multiple cloud gaming services. Both companies are collaborating with the Xbox Cloud Gaming and NVIDIA GeForce NOW teams to enable gamers to play AAA games when they are not connected to their console or PC.
Both companies are eager to merge their expertise and improve the gaming experience
Logitech G and Tencent Games share a vision for the future of gaming and are committed to ensuring that the quality of experience comes together seamlessly to deliver on the exciting promise of cloud gaming. Cloud gaming makes use of data center servers to deliver video games to customers. It is not necessary to download or install PC or console games. Games are instead rendered and played on remote servers, with users interacting with them locally on their devices.
“Logitech G’s leadership in PC and console gaming gear makes them an ideal partner to assist us in realizing our vision of providing a better gaming experience to gamers all over the world,” said Daniel Wu, general manager of Tencent Games Smart Solution Innovation Lab. “Today marks the beginning of a new opportunity for our companies to push the boundaries of gaming devices even further.”
“Tencent Games has been at the forefront of innovation as one of the leading global platforms for game development, publishing, and operations, which is why we partnered with them,” said Ujesh Desai, general manager of Logitech G. “As someone who grew up playing video games, the idea of being able to stream and play AAA games almost anywhere is super exciting, and we can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on,” says the developer.
