Supercell’s monster-hunting action RPG mo.co might have not seen any important updates considering testing or launches as of now, but its interesting KPI notifications are surely building the hype, which has continued with its 6th too. While the details regarding exciting PvP modes and a few tweaks and developments are shared, an invite-only test is lurking around the corner, the details of which I’ll share in this article.

mo.co 6th KPI: All new features and changes explained

A few changes based on player feedback

The developers have been testing the game for a few months to ensure it’s on the right path for long-term success. Changes based on recent feedback have already been tested, and early signs suggest a better player experience. A few creators got a chance to play and have shared their thoughts on the new meta changes in videos.

The playtest received praise for the game’s visuals, sound design, and smooth gameplay mechanics. The makers mentioned that the ones who could get their hands on the playtest enjoyed the core gameplay consisting of open-world hunting, chaos rifts, and boss battles, with team-based challenges adding to the fun.

Amongst this, they received numerous feedback during the 5th KPI as the new meta arrived, which they outlined how to tackle quickly. To address concerns about player agency, the developers are adding more gear chests with frequent upgrade choices. They’re also working to strike a balance between randomness and accessibility so the game remains engaging for all players.

To reduce repetitive gameplay, new open-world events like environmental effects, mini-missions, and unique chaos rifts will be introduced. Players will also experience new modes like Boss Hunts, where they track bosses across the map, and a defense arena where they protect their van from waves of chaos monsters.

The progression system is being reworked to make levelling up feel more rewarding. Gears and world maps will unlock based on player levels, and a new rested XP system will provide bonus XP gains at the start of each day. Additionally, improvements to Elite Hunter Mode will offer tougher challenges, with small, permanent progress carrying across chapters for long-term engagement.

Monetization will stick to cosmetics only

The developers confirmed that mo.co will stick to cosmetic-only monetization. That’s the reason they are keen on striking the right balance between simplicity and player agency, especially in systems like the new meta. This approach aims to appeal to a wide audience and create sustainable monetization without disrupting gameplay balance.

A sneak peek into the PvP experience and modes

PvP will introduce various modes, each with level caps to ensure fairness. In PvP, gears will be restricted by the mode’s level cap, and no amplifiers will be allowed in builds. Players can still engage in PvP combat while hunting chaos monsters to collect shards and earn XP. Modes include Lone Ranger, Double Trouble, Four Fighters, and Group Hunt. The details of each are given below.

  • Lone Ranger (free for all): 20 hunters compete to hunt chaos monsters and collect their shards in 3 minutes. Bigger monsters drop more shards, and players can steal shards from each other. Drop rates double in the final minute, and the hunter with the most shards wins.
  • Double Trouble (2-player teams): Same rules as Lone Ranger, but now it’s 10 teams of 2 hunting monsters and collecting shards together.
  • Four Fighters (4-player teams): Two teams of 4 compete on a smaller map with faster monster spawns. A boss also appears, adding to the challenge.
  • Group Hunt (10v10): Two teams of 10 hunters face off. It’s a chaotic mode with tough competition and lots of action.

An invite-only test soon

Initially, the developers planned a small PvP test but have decided to focus on a broader community test instead. The next opportunity for us to try mo.co will arrive in Q1 2025, the details of which they’ll share soon.
