The monster-hunting action RPG from Supercell mo.co has unveiled yet another KPI update, with its 5th now recently. With a major meta change being the highlight, we also have a new gear upgrade system coming alongside the removal of printers, easy upgrading, and more which I will explain in this article.
mo.co 5th KPI: All new features and changes explained
New Gear Upgrade System: Chaos Cores
Remember the materials you had to collect from Chaos Monsters for gear upgrades? Well, the team has decided to remove them. No more materials, and for now, no more printer, and hence, a twist in the meta. You will still unlock new gear by completing missions, but upgrading that gear has changed. Instead, chaos monsters will drop chaos cores that will be used for gear upgrades.
Now, when you defeat chaos monsters, you’ll collect chaos cores, which will randomly upgrade your gear. This eliminates the need for extra grinding and streamlines the entire process. Higher-level chaos monsters will drop better chaos cores, which will provide stronger upgrades.
After a chaos core drops from a chaos monster, head back to your apartment to see how many you’ve collected. Once you open them, you’ll quickly see which gear got upgraded and its new power level. Still, let me remind you that this is still a work in progress, so this might be reverted or have another change.
In addition to this, daily job chests will also provide gear upgrades, and you’ll even get to choose between multiple options. Again this will be checked by the team with other updates.
New World Environment, Outfit, and more
The team has been teasing new outfits on their social media platforms, with more previews to come. Additionally, a sneak peek of World 3, known as The Swamps, will be revealed in the coming weeks. This bug-filled environment brings a spooky new vibe to mo.co, and more details regarding the same will be given by the developers in the coming days.
Details on the meta change and Dev Dairy
This shift is designed to reduce grinding and make the game more fun. No more farming materials for hours as you can now focus on hunting monsters and upgrading gear more easily. By removing pay-to-progress features, monetization will focus on cosmetics and customization, ensuring fairness for all players.
The dev team adds that the change also simplifies game development, as it gives the team more flexibility to add new chaos monsters for limited-time events without worrying about complex resource drops. The Supercell team is now testing the new changes and providing feedback to ensure everything is on track.
