NCSOFT has unveiled its new MMORPG, Horizon Steel Frontiers, scheduled for Android, iOS, and PC. Developed in collaboration with Sony’s Guerrilla Games, the game is the first MMORPG in the popular Horizon series and was showcased during G-Star 2025. The launch date will be revealed later.
Prepare to step into the Deadlands and hunt down colossal machines with other players
So, Horizon Steel Frontiers is an MMORPG taking place in the acclaimed Horizon universe, unfolding across the lands of the machine hunters called the Deadlands. This new entry captures the essence of Horizon’s signature hunting-action gameplay while also introducing advanced MMORPG elements, so the hope is high on this one.
You play as machine hunters, either joining forces with others to bring down colossal machines or competing against rival tribes. And you can choose from diverse tribes such as Nora, Tenakth, Utaru, or Oseram, create and develop your character, and even share your creation with other players.
Players can experience new, dynamic combat and massive battles
Personally, I’ve only played Horizon Zero Dawn and LEGO Horizon Adventures, so I’m genuinely curious to dive into this survival adventure in a vast open world, inspired by Arizona and New Mexico. Even the combat looks fun, as Sung-Gu Lee, NCSOFT Executive Producer, said, “We’ve added unique, original gameplay elements to the process of taking down giant machines.”
From what I’ve seen from the trailer, the game looks very promising with its stunning graphics, customizable combat, large-scale battles, player freedom, cross-platform play, and more. And, I’m quite excited for this as Jan-Bart van Beek, Guerrilla Games Studio Director, shared, “We already had groups at Guerrilla playing Horizon Steel Frontiers together at the office, and it’s really amazing. “
