NetEase Games, the leading internet and game services provider has announced the opening of a new game studio called Anchor Point Studios, as part of its games division.
Paul Ehreth, a game director and designer with more than 20 years of experience creating games for PC and consoles, established Anchor Point Studios. Paul, whose previous work includes games like Halo, Ghost of Tsushima, Red Dead Redemption 2, and The Division, is joined by a talented team. It includes the head of operations Pere Torrents, and other coworkers with decades of combined experience in the industry.
Anchor Point Studios aims to develop action-adventure games for console and PC
The mission of Anchor Point Studios is to create action-adventure video games for PC and consoles that push the envelope of enjoyment and incorporate aspects of surprise into the gameplay. The company will be hiring up to 100 individuals across Europe and North America, with Spain serving as its primary base. They are looking for developers, technical artists, and designers to work in their offices, remotely, or in a hybrid capacity.
We’re so excited to officially drop our anchor in Barcelona, the hometown of my great-grandparents, and start building a strong team for our journey of exploration together with NetEase Games. Our studio’s motto is ‘Per Aspera, Ad Astra’ (‘through hardships, to the stars’) because we want to build an adventure that will stay fresh and provide a unique experience that will surprise and delight people each time they play, and I want us to acknowledge the challenges we are setting out to face. We’re grateful to NetEase Games for giving us the creative freedom and resources to build this interconnected world that will expand beyond games and reach into other mediums as well.
