Gamers worldwide were left disappointed after Bandai Namco, the popular and renowned Japan-based game publisher revealed their new logo that has an extremely minimalist and simplistic look to it and is very different from the logo that gamers have grown used to.
Bandai Namco has dozens of games on mobile and hardly needs any introduction but their new logo is supposed to incorporate some new values about “Fun for All into the Future” as revealed in a press report.
Bandai Namco’s new logo is meant to signal a new era
“The new logo’s speech bubble motif, “Fukidashi” in Japanese, expresses the potential of the brand to connect with people around the world and inspire them with amazing ideas. The speech bubble also represents Japan’s manga culture that has become so popular everywhere.” The report goes on to say. It is also supposed to stand for their “determination to communicate with fans worldwide” and the magenta outline is actually supposed to represent diversity.
Now, while this is a new chapter in Bandai Namco’s story, fans haven’t taken too kindly to it and used various social media platforms to express their dismay. For a while now companies are gravitating towards more simplistic and minimalist-looking logos to represent themselves, something which takes away their uniqueness since the logo essentially goes from something instantly recognizable and associable with their products to boring and generic.
A lot of netizens were quick to point out how it just doesn’t fit into their games and why this is honestly a really bad decision and it remains to be seen whether Bandai Namco realizes their mistake and decides to either stand their ground with this new simplistic logo or goes back to the drawing board, quite literally, to come up with something new and creative that doesn’t let down their pre-existing logo.
