Now you can play GTA Vice City on your phone for free without downloading it

But how?

Story Highlights
  • GTA Vice City now runs directly in browsers across mobile, PC, and tablets.
  • Full support for touch controls, controllers, cloud saves, and all resolutions.
  • Story progression requires original game files after reaching first mission checkpoint.

Alright, I know you might think this is clickbait, or maybe some emulator rumour making rounds again. But this one is actually pretty interesting, trust me. GTA Vice City, the original classic from Rockstar Games, is now playable directly in your browser, even on your mobile, without downloading the full game.

GTA Vice City browser edition boasts minimal data usage and smooth streaming

Want to know how? Well, it is all thanks to the team behind Dos Zone. The site, which caters to playable games on a browser, has managed to port the original GTA Vice City to run on modern web browsers. That means you can jump into Vice City almost instantly, whether you are on mobile, PC, or tablet.

The game loads super fast, using only about 56 MB to start, while the rest of the data loads as you move around the city. What makes this even better is that this is not a stripped-down version, and you get the full story, and looking at it, the cutscene visuals are crisper.

Alongside this, you get the original gameplay experience with support for touch controls, gamepads, different screen resolutions, and even local and cloud saves. Having tried it myself, it feels surprisingly smooth for something running straight from a browser, and supports both portrait and landscape gameplay on mobile.

There is one important thing to note. This is offered as a limited demo. You can freely explore and play as much as you want, but once you reach the first story checkpoint at the Ocean View Hotel, you will need to upload an original GTA Vice City game file to continue.

According to the developers, the project is meant for educational and research purposes, showing what modern web technology can handle using open-source tools. If you are curious or just want a quick nostalgia hit, you can try it via the official website.
