Pokémon TCG Pocket fans, prepare yourselves for the year 2025, which will bring massive updates to your favorite game! The most awaited Space-Time Smackdown expansion is going to be launched on January 30, 2025, with many new features, cards, and mechanics that promise to revolutionize Pokémon TCG Pocket.

This update is set to be one of the milestone moments for the Pokémon TCG Pocket, from the Sinnoh-themed card set to exciting introductions to a new trading feature. Here’s everything you need to know about this major expansion, why it’s so exciting, and what it means for the meta moving forward.

This is significantly larger than the Mythical Island mini-set that was released in December 2024. Moreover, it comes with 140+ cards split into two new booster packs, Dialga and Palkia. With this set comes the new introduction of Pokémon Tools, a fresh new mechanic pulled straight from the physical Pokémon TCG, and Sinnoh-themed cards featuring fan favorites like Dialga ex, Palkia ex, and the Sinnoh starters Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup.

Combined with the trading feature launching on January 29, 2025, this expansion is more than just a set of cards, it’s a turning point for the game’s future.

Confirmed Pokemon in Space-Time Smackdown

Several cards have been revealed so far, and the hype is real! Here’s a look at some of the standout additions:

  • Chimchar – Monferno – Infernape
  • Turtwig – Grotle – Torterra
  • Piplup – Prinlup – Empoleon
  • Leafeon
  • Palkia
  • Pachirisu
  • Cresselia
  • Lucario
  • Murkrow – Honchkrow
  • Dialga
  • Gible – Gabite – Garchomp

Of these, Palkia ex has emerged as an early contender for one of the best cards in the set. With 150 HP, its two attacks Slash (30 damage for 1 energy) and Dimensional Storm (150 damage for 4 energy, plus 20 to each of the opponent’s benched Pokémon) make it both powerful and versatile. However, the drawback of discarding three Water Energy adds a layer of strategy to its use.

The long-awaited Trading Feature is coming along with the update

The trading feature will come online in Pokémon TCG Pocket on 29th January 2025 i.e. a day before the Space-Time Smackdown expansion launches:

  • Friend-Based Trading: Accepting trades will only be available through friend lists.
  • Same-Rarity Trades: Trades involving the swapping of others will be accepted only when both parties involved have equal rarity cards.
  • Item Requirements: For this trade to initiate, it must have two items Trade Hourglasses and Trade Tokens.
  • Cards Supported: Initially, support includes the Genetic Apex cards and the cards from Mythical Island. Additionally, cards from other expansions will be included in later iterations.

Importantly, cards from the Space-Time Smackdown expansion will not be tradable at launch. This makes sure that players focus on building their collections through booster packs first. The Space-Time Smackdown expansion is a lot more than just an update. It’s game-changing.

And with Sinnoh-themed cards, Pokémon Tools, and the addition of trading, it’s going to appeal to the collector, the competitive player, and just the casual fan. Get ready to experience the Sinnoh region like never before. This makes Pokémon TCG Pocket a highly ambitious move with so much for fans all across the globe.
