- PUBG Mobile was banned in Bangladesh in 2021 following a written petition.
- Several attempts were made to unban the game and revive the esports scenario.
- As the restrictions are no longer available, fans and players greeted the title with warm wishes.
After being banned for almost four years, PUBG Mobile is now officially unbanned in Bangladesh. Several leading esports personnel and media channels confirmed the news. As the restrictions are no longer applicable, players can enter the game using the local carrier networks and wifi connections.
The government of Bangladesh banned the game in 2021 after receiving orders from the High Court. Several efforts were launched since then to lift the ban on KRAFTON’s battle royale title. But the boat of hope got strong, favorable winds from the beginning of 2025.
Players celebrate with mixed feelings, hoping to see a resurrection in gaming soon
PUBG Mobile was immensely popular in the country and founded the base of several known esports teams. A1 Esports, one of the top teams in the country, also participated in the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) in 2020. While the country was gaining good traction in the esports scene of the South Asia region, the government imposed an unexpected ban.

As the unban news came up, we spotted hundreds and thousands of comments from people with mixed feelings, mostly positive. While some say the unban brings back the nostalgia, others are viewing it as a resurrection in gaming and esports.
PUBG Mobile was initially banned in 2021, the court declaring it “destructive“
After hearing a writ petition against the game, quoting it to be a “destructive” app, the High Court division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court ordered to ban on the game immediately in 2021. However, several other apps and games, including Free Fire and TikTok, also faced the same consequences back then.
The youth and community have long demanded that the game be unbanned. In April 2022, another petition seeking the revocation of the game was heard in court and rejected.
The community didn’t stop playing it, as the game was accessible via VPNs. At times, players were able to enter the game without changing their IP address, but the matchmaking system required a connection. Unfortunate events like the arrest of over a hundred players were also spotted. But now, the relentless effort from the community has worked out, finally resulting in the unbanning of PUBG Mobile in Bangladesh.
