- Squad Busters has announced a collaboration with Sonic the Hedgehog.
Squad Busters is coming with a new collab! The action title from Supercell has announced the collaboration between Squad Busters and SEGA‘s blockbuster franchise Sonic the Hedgehog, and a new Squad Update is coming on June 17, 2025.
Sonic the Hedgehog joins the game as a brand-new Hero, and he’s bringing his iconic friends Knuckles and Tails along for the ride. The update also brings a limited-time event where you can fight against Dr. Eggman, collect Rings, and unlock rewards tied to this special collaboration.
Squad Busters x Sonic the Hedgehog collab and update: All the details
On June 11, 2025, both the official Squad Busters and Sonic Japan Twitter accounts teased a potential collaboration.
New Hero arrives: Sonic
Sonic is the star Hero of this event. He’s a Speedster Hero who becomes Super Sonic when you use his Power, making him temporarily invincible. He also increases the speed and attack rate of your Squad while he’s active.
His Trait lets you charge Super Sonic faster when using Turbo, and as you level it up, he even buffs the health and attack of other Speedsters in your team. If you’re a fan of fast-paced brawls, Sonic is going to be a game-changer.
New Squaddies: Tails and Knuckles
Tails and Knuckles join in as powerful new Squaddies. Tails uses a Laser Cannon for his Power and rides into battle with his Cyclone Walker, continuing the fight on foot if it’s destroyed.
Knuckles can dig underground, dodging all damage and then bursting out with a strong area attack. He can also dig up loot with his Trait, and when he evolves, he finishes off combos with a spiral uppercut.
Both characters have Baby, Classic, and Super forms, and unlocking their evolutions will upgrade their Powers and Traits.
Sonic the Hedgehog Event
The Sonic Event runs for three weeks once it kicks off on the 17th of June. You’ll collect Rings by playing battles, checking the Shop, and logging in daily. Unlock Sonic first, then keep collecting Rings to get Hero Points, which you’ll use to unlock Knuckles and Tails through Sonic’s Hero Journey.
There’s also a new Dr. Eggman modifier where his mobile drops into the Squadiverse. Defeat him, especially when he transforms into his Death Egg Robot, to earn more Rings and bonus rewards.
Other Updates
But that’s not all. Another surprise Hero is on the way, Spike, the game’s first Healer Hero. While Spike isn’t dropping with this update, we’ll hear more about him later this Summer. His unique healing role fills out the final Hero type, and his own Hero Journey is coming soon.
A few other updates are coming as well: the Plaza can be zoomed out again, Hatchling Run is returning with balance tweaks and a hatchling-packed final round, and Battle Healer is getting her Ultimate evolution. Plus, several bugs have been fixed, including one where Archer Queen could one-shot any Hero.
This is the second major collab that Squad Busters is coming with. Back in March this year, Squad Busters had come with the TRANSFORMERS collab, which first arrived back in the September 2024 update. This also arrived with updates and multiple events.
