Square Enix, a Japanese company and publisher of popular titles like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts, has expressed its interest to enter the Blockchain and NFT games industry by incorporating it into its next titles. The company claimed that its next entry will be a “full commercial” move towards the NFT market.
Square Enix: Launch of NFT
Partnering with developer Double Jump, the company released NFT digital trading cards in Japan based on the video game and anime franchise Shi-San-Sei Million Arthur, during the last October. The trial run of NFT was sold out in just two weeks. Based on the result, it seems that the decision is well-taken.

Square Enix has recently released their financial report where it says its net sales for MMO games increased by 32.5% YoY, due to the sharp growth in the number of monthly paying subscribers for “FINAL FANTASY XIV.” Though mobile titles did not meet the expectations, it surely has a bright future considering the previous results.
NFT: The future or other concerns
One of the most trending topics on the internet now is the “NFT”, which is also taken in the crypto market. Not only being in cryptocurrency, but the blockchain-based non-currency is also now grabbing attention from all the big companies along with the general people. Mobile games are no exception to this. Already, there are some games available that are giving NFT to their users.
Giant developers in the mobile gaming industry are also taking NFT into their accounts to incorporate it into their games. Not some days ago, EA CEO talked about “collectible digital content” including NFTs during their Q2 2022 conference call. He said that NFTs will play a meaningful role in the future and they’re planning to introduce it in their games as well. As Square Enix is also looking to enter the market, the future results will be much likely to be followed by other companies.
